Richard William Wright – Rochester

Richard William Wright, 51, of Rochester passed unexpectedly Friday, August 11, 2023 at his Rochester residence. Born December 2, 1971 in New Brighton, he is the beloved son of Mary A. (Bucci) Manning of Hookstown and the late William M. Wright. In addition to his father, also predeceased by his step-father Thomas E. Manning, Sr.

Richard enjoyed fishing, boating (especially pontoon boats), a lover of music he enjoyed playing the drums, and was an avid Steeler and Penguin’s fan. And held a special place in his heart for animals.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jason and Carrie Wright, his step-brother Thomas E. and Alexandra Manning, Jr., a niece and nephew Katie and William Wright. Continue reading

Florence M. Pulver – Midland Heights

Florence M. Pulver, 83 of Midland Heights, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, August 8, 2023 under the care of Good Samaritan Beaver. Born June 11, 1940 in Weirton, W.V. She was a daughter of the late Chester and Isabella (Bork) Rakowski. A homemaker, Florence was a graduate of the South Side School, she had also worked as a cashier at the Co Go’s in Florence and was a member of the Community Bible Church in Aliquippa.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lewis E. (Red) Pulver.

She’s the beloved mother of Roy S. and his wife Lori Pulver, Sandra and her husband Bruce Knisley and Tracy and her husband Travis Snyder. Sister of Bernard and his wife Helen Rakowski and Bertha and her husband Boyd Rogish. Cherished grandmother of 10, Bryan (Janeen) Pulver, Heather (Gianni) Fuscardo, Bruce Knisley Jr., Ryan (Laura) Knisley, R.J. (Brenna) Pulver, Taylor (Joe) Connor, Connor (Sarah) Duffy, Brady Duffy, Rylee Pulver and Kerrigan Duffy. Jackie Lynn Moore – Georgetown (Greene Twp,)

Jackie Lynn Moore, 72, of Georgetown (Greene Twp,), passed peacefully Tuesday afternoon, August 8, 2023 at Stone Pear Pavillion; Chester, W.V. Born July 23, 1951 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Maxine (Skeens) Fox. Jackie had worked as an executive assistant with USAirways, was an avid NASCAR racing fan, Steelers fan and a member and secretary of the South Side Seniors Association. She also enjoyed spending time in her flower beds.

Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Terry B. Moore, her sons Joseph and his wife Christine Moore and Michael Moore and his girlfriend Sarah Lytle, her sister Leah Morgan.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, Pa. 15050 on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where her service will be held Saturday at 11 am. Rev. Martha G. Stroud – Shippingport

Martha G. Stroud, 89, of Shippingport, died peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday evening, August 2, 2023. Born May 28, 1934 in Florence, she was a daughter of
the late Arthur Stuart and Vernie (Wilson) Emler. In addition to being a homemaker, Martha had worked as a seamstress out of her house for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Wayne Stewart, a brother William Jay Emler and her sister Audrey Neeley. Continue reading

Russell G. Phillips, Jr. – Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.)

Russell G. Phillips, Jr., 39, of Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.), passed peacefully Sunday, July 30, 2023 at his residence. Born February 22, 1984 in Pittsburgh. He was a son of Russell G. Phillips, Sr. and the late Natalie C. (Noss) Phillips. Russell was a member of the Bethlehem Church in Shippingport, where he also took care of the church cemetery. He enjoyed drawing, skateboarding and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife Amanda (Emert) Phillips, his siblings Rhyan and his wife Amy Noss and Raine Phillips. His daughter Bella Emert, his grandmother Diana Phillips and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins survive. Continue reading

Ronald F. Westerman, 84, of Hookstown passed Thursday morning, July 20, 2023 under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver. Born June 4, 1939 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late George H. and Dorothy (Bauer) Westerman. Ron had worked as a machinist and was a member of the Beaver County Bee Keepers Association, the Western Pennsylvania Gladiola Society and was a Master Gardner.

Lucy Lynn Hubbard, 81, of Hookstown passed Monday morning, May 22, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver. Born January 18, 1942 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Caroline (Lutton) Wright. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, James Hector Hubbard, on July 29, 2021 and a brother William Wright.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Barbara and William Ross, Michael and Renee Hubbard and Lisa and Todd Moore. Sister of Thomas and his wife Mary Jo Wright and Amy Wright. Grandmother of 8, William and James Ross, Virginia and Ryan Ford, Brandon and his fiancée Hillary (Lazar) Getz, Taryn and Brian Price, Brett Hubbard and his fiancée Sydney Bruckner, Stephanie and Tom Janney and Moon Moore. LaVern (Douglas) Z. Pence, 85, of Aliquippa (Raccoon twp.) died Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2023 at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born June 17, 1937 in Ingo, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jesse R. & Mabel M. (Samples) Douglas. She was the devoted wife of 60 years to Gale G. Pence, who died May 28, 2015. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, her second family, where she served as a deacon.

She is survived by a son David A. & Lynn Pence and her daughter Karla and her late husband Ed Jestat. Grandmother of Stephanie DeMarco, Joshua & Jessica Magnone, Breanna Jestat & Anthony Vanenzio. Great grandmother of Keaton Michalski, Gemma DeMarco, Hattie DeMarco, Maximus Vanenzio and Clayton Magnone and Levi Magnone. Sister of Katie Miller and the late Leta G. & Merle Rhines, H.
