Judith K. Shannon – Georgetown (Greene Twp.)

Judith K. Shannon, 84 of Georgetown (Greene Twp.) passed Sunday morning, January 26, 2025 at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chippewa with family at her side. Born January 14, 1941 in Brothersvalley twp., she was a daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Weimer) Hewitt.

Along with being a homemaker, she drove bus for the Southside School District for over 25 years. She enjoyed her time working as a bus driver and was a woman devoted to her family. Continue reading

Barbara Ann Heizler – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)

Barbara Ann Heizler, 85 of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) passed Wednesday morning, January 22, 2025 at Celebration Villa; Chippewa twp. Born January 3, 1940 in Nobelstown, she was a daughter of the late Henry A. and Estella E. (Lynch) Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Heizler Jr., a brother William Smith, her son Bill Heizler, and her sister Brenda Phillips.

Surviving are her sons, David Heizler, Robert and his wife Gloria Heizler, and Bill and his wife Jessica Heizler. Sister of Judy Blessley, and her stepbrother Stevie Kushner. Also, grandmother of 4. Continue reading

Charles A. Graham – Hookstown

Charles A. Graham, 92 of Hookstown, passed Monday morning, January 20, 2025 in the comfort of his home with family at his side. Born August 16, 1932 in Shippingport, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Edith (Hughes) Graham. Charles was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army as a Cpl. He retired from Sun Oil Co. in Vanport, where he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church. Also, a lifetime member of the Hookstown American Legion, where he held numerous positions thru the years. Also, the NRA, Hancock County Senior Citizens and the South Side Senior Citizens. Also, a member of the Trail Riders band, playing the guitar. Continue reading

Murray J. Hughes – Monaca (Raccoon Twp.)

Murray J. Hughes, 74 of Monaca (Raccoon Twp.) passed Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025 in the comfort of his home. Born January 21, 1950, he was a son of the late Murray Detmore and Lillie (Barker) Hughes. A veteran of the US Army, he served during the Vietnam War and had worked as a laborer in the construction industry with Laborers Local #833. Continue reading

Edith M. Swearingen – Georgetown (Hanover twp.)

Edith M. Swearingen, 95 of Georgetown (Hanover twp.) passed peacefully Wednesday evening, January 8, 2025 with her children at her side at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born August 27, 1929 in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late Hunter and Nora (Marshall) Stephens. A homemaker, Edith was a lifetime member of the VFW ladies auxiliary; New Cumberland W.V. where she was a past president, secretary, and chaplain. Also, the past president of the state of W.V. M.O.C.A. and life member of veterans of foreign wars and a member of the National Home for Veterans. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outside enjoying God’s beauty gardening. Continue reading

Doris M. Cox – Hookstown

Doris M. Cox, 84 of Hookstown passed peacefully, Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2025 at Beaver Valley Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Chippewa with family at her side. Born October 29, 1940 in Aliquippa, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Hess) Kane.

Doris was a very active member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, often giving her time to prepare funeral meals. She was a graduate of South Side School class of 1960. She had worked as a housekeeper for over 30 years at the Willows in Industry, a member of the South Side Senior Citizens, she enjoyed bingo and the Red Hats Ladies group. Continue reading

Joyce J. Kostandin – Beaver Falls (South Beaver Twp.))

With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the tragic passing of our beloved mother, daughter and sister, Joyce J. Kostandin on December 31, 2024. Born December 16, 1983 in Beaver, she was the daughter of Cindy (Backus) Beck and the late Terry Beck. Joyce had worked at Heritage Valley Beaver as a phlebotomist. A very creative person, she loved working on and remodeling her home and working on crafts.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sons, Gavin and Landon Kostandin, her brother Roy L. Pape Jr. and her sisters Terri Smitsky and Elizabeth and her husband Joe Shelton. Her nieces and nephews are Ainsley Pape, Micah & Lucah Pape, Tallylynn and Paige Smitsky, Cheyenne Shelton and the late Wyatt Smitsky. Also, her beloved fur baby, Tobias. Continue reading
