Edith M. Swearingen – Georgetown (Hanover twp.)
Edith M. Swearingen, 95 of Georgetown (Hanover twp.) passed peacefully Wednesday evening, January 8, 2025 with her children at her side at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born August 27, 1929 in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late Hunter and Nora (Marshall) Stephens. A homemaker, Edith was a lifetime member of the VFW ladies auxiliary; New Cumberland W.V. where she was a past president, secretary, and chaplain. Also, the past president of the state of W.V. M.O.C.A. and life member of veterans of foreign wars and a member of the National Home for Veterans. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outside enjoying God’s beauty gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Swearingen, a step son Gary Swearingen, brothers Harry and Harold Stephens and sisters Eleanor Rider, Betty Spence, Patty Stiteler and Esther Shinke.
Surviving are her children, Larry and Mabel Swearingen and Karen and Paul Boehm. Her sister Grace Brown. Grandmother of 3, April and Chad Carpenter, Crystal and Darshan Sharma and Emily Turner. Also, great grandmother of 4.
Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St. on Thursday, January 16th from 4 pm until 6 pm only. Her service will be held Friday, January 17th at 11 am. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery Georgetown.
