Doris M. Cox – Hookstown

Doris M. Cox, 84 of Hookstown passed peacefully, Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2025 at Beaver Valley Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Chippewa with family at her side. Born October 29, 1940 in Aliquippa, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Hess) Kane.

Doris was a very active member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, often giving her time to prepare funeral meals. She was a graduate of South Side School class of 1960. She had worked as a housekeeper for over 30 years at the Willows in Industry, a member of the South Side Senior Citizens, she enjoyed bingo and the Red Hats Ladies group.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Donald P. Cox in 2018, her siblings James, John, Lynn ‘Mo’, David, Ernie, Ethel Donley, Betty Graham and Alice Reed.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Donald L and Melanie Cox, David Wayne and Trish Cox, Delores and Doug Dunshee and Daniel and JoAnn Cox. Her brother and his wife are Harry and Lillian Kane. Her grandchildren are Josh and Maranda Cox, Jeremy Cox, Jamie Cox, Landon, Levi and Liam Dunshee, Hunter and Amber Cox and Hannah Cox. Her great grandchildren Victoria ‘Tori’, Sophia and Damien. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews with a special niece Cathy Grafton.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA. 15050 on Saturday, January 11th from 12 noon until the time of her service at 4 pm. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church will officiate. Cremation will follow with burial in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
