Thomas W. Allison Sr. – Raccoon Township

Thomas W. Allison Sr. of Raccoon Township passed away comfortably at home December 28th, 2025.
Tom was born July 30, 1935 to LaNora (Campbell) and Harry Allison. Tom served in the US Airforce in 1954 to 1958. After his service, he returned to work at Cruciable and J&L Steel in Midland, Pa., until he retired. Tom married his wife, Alice (Cujas) Allison on October 15th, 1960, and they bought her family farm. They raised their children Vikki and Tommy. He was a hobby farmer and enjoyed taking care of his cows and tending to his garden. Continue reading
Samuel L. Black – formerly of Clinton (Hanover twp.)

Samuel L. Black 89, formerly of Clinton (Hanover twp.) slipped into the arms of his loving Savior Sunday morning, December 21, 2025 in the comfort of his daughter’s home in Leesburg, Indiana. He was born August 1, 1936 in Indiana, PA. the last surviving child of the late William Harvey & Margaret Pauline (Lingenfelter) Black. Before his retirement he had worked as a steel worker and was a veteran of the United States army, and a founding member of the Community Bible Church, Aliquippa.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Norma Jean (Rice) Black, a son Daniel Leon Black and a daughter Donna Lee Kozarovich, his sisters Marie McCullough & Margaret Irene Rice. Continue reading
James D. “Doug” Johnson – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)
James D. “Doug” Johnson, 68 of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) passed Thursday, December 4, 2025 at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born January 27, 1957 in Frenchburg, Kentucky, he was a son of the late James Lilburn & Cynthia (Charles) Johnson. Doug had worked as a logger in the timber industry, a member of the NRA he was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, riding quads and shooting pool. Continue reading
John Joseph “Jack” Hentges
John Joseph “Jack” Hentges died Monday, December 1, 2025, at home. He was 77.
Born November 24, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of William J. and Virginia C. (Tyrrell) Hentges. His parents preceded him in death.
Jack graduated from St. John Cantius High School in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood and attended Cleveland State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in the late 1960s. In the service, he specialized in jet aircraft airframes and powerplants while stationed at the former Barbers Point Naval Air Station in Hawaii and aboard the USS Independence (CV-62) in the Mediterranean.
