Ernest L. Hoffman Sr. – Clinton (Independence Twp.)

Ernest L. Hoffman Sr. 90, of Clinton (Independence Twp.) passed Monday evening, March 24, 2025 at UPMC-Mercy Hospital. Born January 22, 1935 in Waynesburg. He was a son of the late Guy M. & Vista A. (Garber) Hoffman. Ernest had worked as a welder at J&L Steel Aliquippa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Marie (Fox) Hoffman. 2 brothers, Guy and Harold Hoffman and a sister Roberta Hoffman. Continue reading

Brett Johnson – Hookstown

Brett Johnson passed away unexpectedly on March 23, following a decline in health. He was 67. Born March 11, 1958, he was the son of the late James Bruce Johnson and Mary Lou (Boyd) Johnson.

Brett grew up in Hookstown and was a graduate of South Side Area School. He sustained a spinal injury at 23 that left him a paraplegic. Brett loved cars – always a Ford man – and especially Mustangs. He shared an interest in John Deere tractors with his dad and they spent many months restoring a Model LA which was later featured in Green Magazine. Continue reading

R. John McCoy – Aliquippa (Hanover Twp.)

R. John McCoy, 93, of Aliquippa (Hanover Twp.) passed away on Monday, March 17, at Apple Blossom Memory Care Community, Moon Township, PA.

John was born June 17, 1931 in New Brighton, PA to the late Mont and Anna (Shay) McCoy.

The first time John saw Mary Inglefield step onto the school bus, he said he knew “she was the one.” They dated through high school and married in June 1951. They were married for 63 years. Continue reading

Mary A. McAfee – Hookstown (Frankfort Springs)

Mary A. McAfee, 53 of Hookstown (Frankfort Springs) passed unexpectedly, Monday morning, March 10, 2025 at her Hookstown home. Born November 1, 1971 in Oakdale, she is the beloved daughter of Cathy (Smitsky) McAfee and the late Charles W. McAfee. Mary had worked as a cook at the Ponderosa Golf Club, she loved sunflowers and spending time with her grandchildren. Continue reading
