Melvin T. “Tug Boat” Wakefield – Georgetown (Greene Twp.)
Melvin T. “Tug Boat” Wakefield, 85 of Georgetown (Greene Twp.) passed Saturday morning, July 6, 2024 at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born December 19, 1938 in Elizabeth, PA., he was a son of the late Melvin C. and Isabell (Douglas) Wakefield. Tug had worked for years on the rivers as a tug boat captain and was a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ruth Joanne (Smith) Wakefield on July 6, 2018 and a daughter Melanie Cavlovich. Continue reading
Harold R. Roberts, Sr. – Burgettstown (Hanover Twp)
Harold R. Roberts, Sr., 77 of Burgettstown (Hanover Twp) passed Thursday morning, July 4, 2024 at the Oakland VA Hospital. Born December 27, 1946 in Sewickley, he was a son of the late Marlin and Mabel (Vanhorn) Roberts. Harold was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Christopher and Clifford Roberts and Jack Vanhorn and sisters Rita Anskate, Kay Orson and Fay Roberts.
Surviving are his children Harold R. Jr. (Michele) Roberts, Cassandra (Jim) McIntyre, Patricia (Esvin) Starling and Desarie Lobb. His brother and long-time care giver Marlin Roberts Jr., Roger Roberts, sisters Paula Anskate and Mary Lombardi. Grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of one. Continue reading
Joye Emily (Brinkman) Mock – Oakdale, PA
Joye Emily (Brinkman) Mock, 89, of Oakdale, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 1, 2024. Joye was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. C.E. “Ted” Mock. She is the beloved mother of Pamela Vohar (Don) and Susan Eaton (Sam); grandmother of Kara Eaton, Samuel Eaton, II (Lauren), Leah Birone (Michael), Jessica Fennell (Kevin), and Tyler Eaton (Ashley); great grandmother (“GiGi”) of Gavin, Janelle, Lily, Bryce, Grayson, Knox, Rocco, and Maggie; and a friend to many. Above all, Joye’s life was defined by sharing joy in Christ, devotion to her family, and teaching.
Joye was a special lady. She was born with a twinkle in her eye on January 6, 1935 in Aurora, Indiana to Rev. Emil and Edna Barbara Brinkman. She graduated from Academy High School in Erie, PA (‘52) and then attended Nyack College, where she met her beloved husband, Ted. Even though she had vowed not to marry a Pastor, Ted was special enough to change her mind. Continue reading
