Helen R. (McDowell) Snyder – GREENE TOWNSHIP
Helen R. (McDowell) Snyder, 97, of Greene Twp., died Thursday afternoon, June 14, 2012, at Passavant Retirement Community of Zelienople.
Born May 14, 1915, in Hookstown, she was the last surviving child born to the late Lloyd and Grayce (Pyles) McDowell. A homemaker, she was a lifelong member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a deacon. She was an original 4-H Club member of Beaver County, serving as a leader for many years for the Mechanicsburg and Hanover Agricultural 4-H Clubs. She drove the first school bus in Beaver County for Reed, Ralston and Mercer one-room schools. She was a member of the South Side Rural Chorus and her church choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Midland. She enjoyed sewing and making pies for the Hookstown Fair.
Norman Wesley Radike – HOOKSTOWN (GREENE TWP.)
Norman Wesley Radike, 58, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) died Saturday evening, June 9, 2012, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends.
Born March 8, 1954, in Phoenix, Ariz., he was the son of the late Norman Wesley and Vera (Harwood) Radike. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War and was employed by the Bayer Corp. working as a machinist. Wes was a large part of the South Side School districts community. He loved motorcycles and music.
Mildred R. Boone – HOOKSTOWN (GREENE TWP.)
Mildred R. Boone, 92, of Hookstown (Greene Township), died unexpectedly Friday, June 1, 2012, at her Hookstown residence.
Born April 26, 1920, in McKees Rocks, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Lutton) Ross. She was a member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, Hookstown, and was a retired registered nurse having worked at the Sewickley Valley Hospital as a private duty nurse. She was also a member of the South Side Senior Citizens.
