Sharon Kay Peek – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)

Sharon Kay Peek, 74, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) passed, peacefully Sunday afternoon, November 28, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver with her children at her side, just 5 hours after her husband’s passing, Everett Lee Peek.

Sharon was born April 16, 1947 in Utica, N.Y. She was a daughter of the late Myron Morrell and Bessie Hazel (Shaw) Matteson. A homemaker Sharon was a member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children Jennifer (John) Miles, Jolene Peek and Jason Peek all of Hookstown. Sister of Robert (Linda) Matteson, James (Sally) Matteson, Greg Matteson, Linda (Tom) Kilbourne and Terry (Vinnie) Rizzo. Grandmother of 4, Madelyn, Jonathan, Aria and Saphira, great-grandmother of Kingston.

Everett Lee Peek – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)

Everett Lee Peek, 77, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) passed peacefully Sunday morning, November 28, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver with his children at his side, his beloved wife Sharon Kay (Matteson) Peek followed him into eternity just 5 hours later.

Everett was born April 23, 1944, in Peculiar, Missouri, a son of the late Albert Levi and Naomi Mae (Winchell) Peek. He worked as a mechanic for US Airways for 35 years and was a member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, an avid hunter he was a member of the South Side Sportsmans Club. Continue reading

John P. “Slug” Allison – Georgetown

John P. “Slug” Allison, 78, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, died Saturday morning November 20, 2021, in East Liverpool City Hospital. Born September 7, 1943, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Harry G. and Nora (Campbell) Allison. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Harry and David Allison and sisters Hazel Ring and Dorothy Steele.

Slug was a member of the Operating Engineers local #66, and former Supervisor in Greene Twp., for 30 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army. Farming was his passion, especially raising Hereford cattle. He adored his granddaughters and enjoyed his time with them.

Dale E. Greenawald, Jr.

Dale E. Greenawald, Jr., was called to heaven on 11/17/2021. Born 1/24/1970, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Dale E. Greenawald, Sr. (Dianna Lynn) and our angel the late Gloria Jean “GG” (Jackson) Greenawald, and brother to Scott (Aldean) Greenawald.

Dale was the beloved and cherished husband of 28 years to Jennifer (Plance) Greenawald and “Always and Forever”, he will be loved and the memories of their beautiful life together will be shared with all who want to hear. His greatest love and joy was being a devoted father to his daughters Katelynn (Dalton Mehlmauer) and Kristen (Alex Takacs). Always supportive, offering wisdom, patience and encouragement, he is so proud of “his girls” and their boys. Their accomplishments are and will continue to be a testimony to his legacy. Arthur William Beckert – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)

Arthur William Beckert, 69, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died unexpectedly, Sunday morning, November 14, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born August 7, 1952, in Rochester, he was a beloved son of Arthur Ward Beckert of Rochester and the late Genevieve Sylvia (Verrico) Beckert, who passed on November 23, 2017. A graduate of Rochester High School class of 1970. He was trained at St. Joe Lead as an electrician, where he worked until St. Joe closed. Then he worked for Duquesne light and then First Energy at the Beaver Valley Power Station. Where he was licensed as a control room operator, then as an operations and simulator instructor in the training center. He retired in 2010.

He was a member of the Mill Creek EPC of Hookstown, where he sang in the choir and was on the praise team, a 7th degree Grange member of the Hookstown Grange and enjoyed his hobby of wood working. Continue reading

Edwin Ray Jordan – Hookstown (Hanover Twp.)

Edwin Ray Jordan, 87, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), passed Friday evening, November 12, 2021. Born April 12, 1934, in Replete, W.V., he was a son of the late Ora Edwin and Myrtle (Fisher) Jordan. A veteran of the US Army, he had worked as a farmer, was a member of the Hookstown American Legion Post #952, a charter member of the Hanover VFD and enjoyed life on the farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Pearl (Brown) Jordan on September 19, 2020, three brothers Hale, Jesse and Leon Jordan and two sisters Nina Springer and Wilda Roby.

Surviving are his children and spouses Charlotte (John) Miller, Kim Curtis and Jayson Jordan all of Hookstown, a son-in-law Mike Curtis of McDonald, three sisters Madeline Gomez of Fl., Maxine Watkins of Oh., and Sue Carpenter of Oh. Grandfather of Amanda (Terry) Lockerbie, John (Gracie) Miller and Michelle (Daniel) Rambo, great grandfather of 5 and step great grandfather of 1, Dalton, John Henry, Eva Grace, Lee Edwin, Caroline Rae and Bethany, great great grandfather of Arya. Grace C. Michael – Georgetown (Hanover Twp.)

Grace C. Michael, 71, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.), died Friday afternoon, November 12, 2021, in the comfort of her home. Born March 6, 1950, in Sewickley, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Jessie (Crow) Wilkinson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Daniel Michael.

Surviving are her sons, Sean (Adriane) Michael and Rodney Michael and granddaughter Lydia Rose Michael. Continue reading

Patsy J. McKnight – Chester, W.V.

Patsy J. McKnight, 67, of Chester, W.V. passed Thursday afternoon, November 4, 2021, at Trinity Medical Center West; Steubenville, Ohio. Born July 14, 1954, in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Delbert A. and Martha M. (Ziegler) Mayhue. A homemaker, Patsy had also worked as a Customer service agent in the banking industry, enjoyed fishing and baking and spending time with close friends and family, including her Florida family. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Rochester where she was baptized in 1973. Continue reading
