David Carl ‘Sonny’ Nusser – Georgetown

David Carl ‘Sonny’ Nusser,91, a lifelong resident of Georgetown passed Sunday morning, June 29, 2025 in the comfort of his home with family at his side. Born April 14, 1934 in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Gabe and Cora Adine (Duncan) Nusser. Dave was a retired lock master with the Army Corps. Of Engineers, a member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and especially gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carol Lea ‘Kay’ Nusser on October 3, 2018 and 1 brother and 4 sisters. Continue reading

Columbia A. Halligan – Georgetown (Hanover twp.)

Columbia A. Halligan, 65 of Georgetown (Hanover twp.) passed Thursday afternoon, June 26, 2025 in the comfort of her home. Born March 29, 1960 in East Liverpool, Ohio. She was a daughter of the late Edmond and Columbia (Morrelli) Gallie and her late step father was Charles Garren. Columbia had worked as a Lead Receiver with Target. Continue reading

John William Nunley

John William Nunley was born in Gary, Indiana on March 11, 1929, to James and Edith Nunley. He went to be with his Lord on the morning of June 16, 2025, at the age of 96.

When John was four-years-old, his family returned to Terre Haute, Indiana, and in these early days, his father would tragically die, making him the man of the house. This event during his formative years would mark him incredibly, including the building of a striking work ethic.

In 1946, at the age of 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving two years, and receiving an honorable discharge in 1948. He married Elizabeth (Bettie), who would become his wife of 75 years, in 1949. He graduated from Rose Hulman Polytechnical Institute with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, becoming a Professional Engineer in 1953. He moved to Michigan to work for The Detroit Edison Company. Continue reading
