Helen M. Rakowski

Helen M. Rakowski (known to most as Nana), 84, went Home to meet her Heavenly Father face to face on Saturday, January 29th, 2022, in Clinton, Pennsylvania. She passed peacefully with her husband and closest family by her side.

Helen was born on May 30th, 1937, in Punxatauney, Pennsylvania, to her parents Rita and Raymond Milliron. As the oldest of seven children, she developed a nurturing soul at a very young age. While caring for her siblings, she completed all 12 years of schooling at West Allegheny High School and that’s where she met Bernard. Helen Milliron married Bernard Rakowski in 1959. Not too long after, they welcomed Bernard Rakowski Jr. in 1961 and then Timothy Rakowski in 1965. Each son was her pride and joy until Valerie Druschel came along. Valerie Druschel married Timothy Rakowski and became the daughter she always prayed for. Continue reading

Betty Garrett Cain – Imperial (Findlay Twp.)

Betty Garrett Cain, 94, of Imperial (Findlay Twp.), left to go hunting and fishing forever with her late husband Bob. Her passing happened Thursday afternoon, January 27, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver. Born December 25, 1927, in Pulaski, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Carl ‘Cal’ and Freda (Crea) Garrett. A loving wife, mother and nanny. Betty was a Presbyterian by faith, Betty loved the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing while at the family camp.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years Robert D. Cain and her infant daughter Sissy. Continue reading

Steven August Petrella – Raccoon Twp.

Steven August Petrella, 73, of Raccoon Twp., passed Wednesday evening, January 26, 2022, at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born May 3, 1948, in Beaver Falls, he was a son of the late Elmer and Frances (Tressler) Petrella. Steve graduated from Monaca High School, was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army. He trained with the 101st Airborne, 7th battalion, and 8th field artillery. He retired from Nova Chemical where he worked as a chemical technician. A member of USW local #10-74. He loved camping at Butter Cup campground for the past 21 years. A member of the Board of the Aliquippa Veterans Service Center and volunteered at Helping Hands Food Pantry.

He leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years, Pamela (Mayhue) Petrella, 2 daughters Rhonda (Mark) Krupa and Stefanie Petrella, all of Raccoon Twp.. Two grandsons Austin (Tori) Petrella of Brighton Twp. and Alex (Natalie) Petrella of Cleveland. Brother of Joe (Ann) Petrella, Gary Petrella, Matt (Mary) Petrella, Cheryl (Jeff) Pickrell and Amy (Jeff) Brown. A sister-in-law Peggy (Duane) Kunzmann and brother-in-law Scott McKnight. Charles Duwayne Yoho – Raccoon Twp.

Charles Duwayne Yoho, 69, of Raccoon Twp., passed away on January 8, 2022, following a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family. In addition to his parents, Charles E. and Geraldine Yoho, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Helen, his son Louis, brothers-in-law Jack Strum, Harry and Perry Russell and his nephews Jackie Strum and Kenneth Dotson.

He is survived by his daughters Carmeleda (Doug) Stiner of Plano and Ashleigh (Josh) Deal of Georgetown. His grandchildren Spencer, Andrea, Tavia and Josie. His sister Carol Strum and brother Dennis (Andrea) Yoho, sisters-in-law Norma Russell, Jennifer (Kevin) Dotson and Linda Snowden. Also numerous nieces and nephews, and his companion Kathy Walker who he adored and his neighbors Karen and Dave Pryzbius and children who he thought of as his own. And his niece Jeannie Henry who has helped in his care over the years. Continue reading

Takoda Anne Eaton – Clinton (Independence Twp.)

Takoda Anne Eaton, 17, of Clinton (Independence Twp.), died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, January 4, 2022. She was born on September 15, 2004, in Sewickley, the beloved daughter of Brian K. and Trish (Kearns) Eaton.

Takoda was a student at Hopewell High School, she enjoyed time with her friends, Marvel Comics, movies and a wide variety of music, and adored her little brother and sister. Continue reading

Alice M. Gardner

Alice M. Gardner, 92, passed from this world peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in her home at Apple Blossom Senior Living, where she had resided for the past year.

She was born July 7, 1929, to the late Howard and Minnie (Such) Boyd and graduated from Hopewell High School. She married her husband, Donald in 1948. Alice was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church of Shippingport, where she was a past choir director, Sunday School teacher and Youth Group leader. Continue reading

Cora Sue Trulli – Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.)

Cora Sue Trulli, 57, of Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.), passed in the comfort of her home with family surrounding her on Monday evening, January 3, 2022. Born April 9, 1964, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Morris J. and Zona F. (Wilfong) Phillips. Cora had worked as a Mortgage Clerk in the Real estate industry.

Surviving are her significant other Paul (Critter) Crisp of Raccoon Twp., her brother Gary Phillips of Ambridge and her nieces and nephew Gary Phillips Jr., Amber (Brent) Sopko, Brienna Phillips and Berlynn Sopko. Continue reading
