Petes was the son of the late Walter Mackall Reed and Mildred Finley Reed. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Charlotte Ferguson Reed, to whom he was married for 53 years. He was a member of the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ in Chester, West Virginia.

Petes was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and rarely missed watching a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game or a Steelers game. He also treasured his nightly rides with his girls, spotting deer. These simple moments spent together became special memories that his daughters will carry with them always.

Family was at the heart of Petes’s life. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud and adoring PaPa. His family was his greatest joy, and the love they shared with him will remain a lasting part of their lives. Whenever the family gathered for a special occasion, he would often look at Charlotte and say, “We did all this.” Those simple words captured the pride and gratitude he felt for the family they had built together.

In addition to his parents and wife, He was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Mildred Reed; his two brothers, John “Jack” Reed and Charles “Buzz” Reed; and his sister, Margaret “Peg” Edwards.
