Anna Louise “Sis” Lombard
Anna Louise “Sis” Lombard, 100 of Hookstown (Frankfort Springs Boro) passed peacefully Sunday morning, August 4, 2024 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born March 30, 1924 in Hookstown, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Marguerite (Ewing) Lombard. Anna had worked as a registered nurse at the Rochester hospital for years until retiring.
Although never married and never having children of her own, her life was filled with the love and laughter of her many nieces and nephews. Many of whom she became a mother figure to for one reason or another. A quiet and reserved lady, her family doesn’t remember her ever raising her voice or being out of sorts with anyone for any reason. She was truly one of a kind and will be forever loved and remembered by her big extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marguerite Majors, and sister Jane Lombard and her brothers Thomas “Tut” Lombard, Jack Lombard, Eugene “Doc” Lombard Jr. and Jim Lombard. Also, a nephew, Charles Richard (Dick) Lombard. Continue reading
Earl A. “Sonny” Irons – Beaver
Earl A. “Sonny” Irons, 80, of Beaver went home to his Lord and Savior on August 2, 2024, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his beloved daughters.
Earl was born on August 18, 1943, the oldest child of William and Ida (Solkovy) Irons. He graduated from South Side High School in 1961. He was a member of Local 1211 and retired from J&L Steel in 1985. He then started an electrical contracting business which he operated for many years. Earl was an avid hunter and sportsman and was a member of Five Points Hunting Club. He also supported the Beaver County Sportsmen’s Conservation League and enjoyed volunteering with the youth summer camp. Earl was a lifelong member of House of Prayer Church. He enjoyed studying family history and the history of Beaver County. Continue reading
