Carol E. Bres, 83 of Sturgeon on June 29, 2024. Beloved wife of 59 years to the late Harry Bres, mother of Terri and her husband Dennis McConnell and Scott Bres and his fiancé Sharon. Cherished Bop Bop of 4, Zac and his wife Taylor McConnell, Josh and his fiancé Laura Hytla, Makayla (Anthony) Bres and Travis Bres. Great grandmother of Rose and Harrison McConnell. Christopher “Chris” Lynn Shively – Port Charlotte, FL

Christopher “Chris” Lynn Shively a beloved father and husband and a resident of Port Charlotte, FL. Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 15, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on December 1, 1947 in Warren, Ohio, he was a son of the late Virgil and Virginia (Florence) Shively. Chris is survived by his wife Judith (Rogers) Shively, his daughter Sarah and her husband Robert Fox, Jr. Also survived by brother-in-law Herbert Rogers and his wife Diane, James Laughlin and his wife Donna and Sam Dibacco and his wife MaryAnne. Sisters-in-laws Bonnie Brady, Janet Stoneburner and Sharon Shively. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew.

Chris was a devoted father, husband and brother, always placing the needs of his friends and family before his own. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters in laws Carl “Sam” and Joyce Shively, Douglas and Joan Shively, brother Eric Shively, sister Stephania Nathan, mother-in-law Elva Rogers, brother in laws William Brady and Robert Stoneburner, along with 4 nephews and 2 nieces. Lillah Beal – Georgetown (Hanover Twp.)

Lillah Beal, 91 of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.). Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed on June 8, 2024 with her girls at her side. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Bernice Ramsey. Born on April 26, 1933 at her home in Aliquippa. In her early years she lived in Aliquippa before moving with her family to Hanover Twp. as a teenager. She graduated from West Allegheny in 1951. There she met the love of her life, Paul Beal. They married August 13, 1951 and were together for 52 years before his death on June 27, 2003.

Two daughters, Debi and her late husband Robert John McCoy Jr. and Pam and her husband Paul Davidson cherish her memory and will miss her love, stories and spending time with her. Also, she leaves cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, Erin and Michael Patterson, Ryan & Jessica McCoy, Benjamin & Casey Davidson, and Adam Davidson and Laney Vaughan. She loved her grandchildren so very much and then the greats came along and she filled her heart with them. Sarah , Hannah, and David Patterson, Liam & Genevieve McCoy. Also, she leaves a daughter by heart, Margaret Frazier and a sister JoAnn Ramsey. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. Continue reading

Joseph C. Barrett – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)

Joseph C. Barrett, 79 OF Hookstown (Greene Twp.) passed Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2024 at Heritage Valley Beaver with his family at his side. He was born February 24, 1945 in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was a son of the late John and Wilda Marie (Sayers) Barrett.

Joe had worked Weirton Steel and J & L Steel where he was in charge of the union for several years, also had worked as site security at the Nuclear Power plant in Shippingport. A South Side School Board member for years, along with being a constable. He was a member in his younger years and then a Scout leader while his boys were active. He also worked as a guard at the Hookstown skating rink for Mr. and Mrs. Berger and was involved with the Hookstown Free Methodist Church. Continue reading

Raymond S. Poland – Georgetown (Hanover Twp.)

Raymond S. Poland, 76 of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.) passed unexpectedly Sunday evening, June 2, 2024 at Brighton Wellness and Rehabilitation Center, Beaver. Born June 5, 1947 in Lonaconing, Maryland, he was a son of the late Raymond S. and Evelyn A. (Shockey) Poland. Ray had worked as a steel worker with J&L Aliquippa Works before retiring. He enjoyed riding his motor cycle and hunting, but most of all, spending time with his family on the weekends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 sons, Raymond S. Poland and James E. Poland and a brother, Gary Poland. Continue reading
