Joseph C. Barrett – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)

Joseph C. Barrett, 79 OF Hookstown (Greene Twp.) passed Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2024 at Heritage Valley Beaver with his family at his side. He was born February 24, 1945 in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was a son of the late John and Wilda Marie (Sayers) Barrett.

Joe had worked Weirton Steel and J & L Steel where he was in charge of the union for several years, also had worked as site security at the Nuclear Power plant in Shippingport. A South Side School Board member for years, along with being a constable. He was a member in his younger years and then a Scout leader while his boys were active. He also worked as a guard at the Hookstown skating rink for Mr. and Mrs. Berger and was involved with the Hookstown Free Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, William Barrett.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Arlene F. (Freeland) Barrett, his children Joseph C. II and his wife Stella Barrett, Jill and her husband Steven Robinson, Heather and her husband Chance Scott and Chad and his wife Dana Barrett. Brother of John and his wife Donna Lee Barrett, James and his wife Cathy Barrett and Barbara and her husband Lanny Winters and a sister-in-law Marlene Barrett. Cherished grandfather of 11, Hayes, J.C., Bethany, Morgan, Brett, Brock, Blaise, Caroline, Haily, Harmony and Karissa. Great grandfather of 7, Arabella, Hunter, Elana, Mia, Alora, Brinley and Lailah.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA. 15050 on Wednesday June 12th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where his service will be held Thursday at 11 am with the Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski officiating of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church. He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery; Georgetown.
