Nancy J. Mayhue – Raccoon Township

Nancy J. Mayhue, 90, of Raccoon Township passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, August 15, 2025. Born on March 15, 1935, to the late Claire (Shaffer) and Frank Cook. She was the wife of John A. (Jack) Mayhue Sr. whom she was married to for 61 years before his passing in 2012. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also predeceased by her son John A. (Jack) Mayhue Jr., her brother Melvin Cook, brother-in-law Bill Compston and sister Carmen and most of her husband’s siblings.

Nancy is survived by her children Cheryl (Wayne) Geib, Mark (Terri) Mayhue, W. Scott (Helen) Mayhue, Richard (Edith) Mayhue, Jaynne (John) Yu, and Donna Mayhue. Also surviving is her sister Judith Compston and sisters-in-law Margarette Cook, Carol Coberly and Rowena Siegle. She was a proud grandmother of 20, great grandmother of 38 and great-great grandmother of 5 and had numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her cat Elf.

Nancy was most proud of her family and hosted Christmas Eve at her house every year, which was no small feat with her big family. Another proud accomplishment was going back to college after age 50 to become a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1991. She worked many years at the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center (Friendship Ridge) where she loved her job and all the people she cared for. She attended Green Valley Methodist Church in Shippingport.

Nancy’s wishes were to be donated to the University of Pittsburgh Medical School as a Humanities Gift for science and research. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Professional services were handled by McConnell Funeral Home, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, Pa, Daniel McConnell, Owner/Director.
