Mary L. Davy – Moon Township (formerly of Hookstown)

We come together to celebrate the life of Mary L. Davy, a beloved member of our community who passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Cedar Hill in Moon Township at the age of 86. Born on October 5, 1938, in Hookstown, Pennsylvania, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late William and Grace Allison Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Davy; her son, Daniel Green; and her dear siblings, Nancy Nichol, Jean Benneche, Lucinda, Julia, and Betty. Continue reading

Shaun Richard Anthony Call – Shippingport

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Shaun Richard Anthony Call, 34 of Shippingport passed unexpectedly Thursday, May 22, 2025 at his residence. Born December 7, 1990 in Beaver, he was the son of Connie Call and the late Floyd Coles. Shaun was an avid Jiu Jitsu King and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Continue reading

Lynn W. Baker – Georgetown

Lynn W. Baker, 74, formerly of Georgetown, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Celebration Villa of Chippewa. Born on January 10, 1951, in East Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Lester A. and Dorothy E. Leatherberry Way.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Arthur Baker in 2011. Lynn was a faithful member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, where she served as the treasurer. She dedicated many years of her life working as a bank teller at ESB Bank until her retirement. Continue reading

James “Dick” Hall – Burgettstown (Hanover Twp)

James Richard Hall, 86, of Florence, passed away on May 9, 2025 in Pittsburgh surrounded by his family.

James “Dick” Hall was born December 3, 1938 to the late Clyde and Evelyn Hall. James grew up on what is now Ponderosa Golf Course raising cattle with his parents and eight siblings. Even after the farm sold, James still made time to go have “din din” on Fridays at the golf course with his wife and grandchildren. Continue reading

Lois Mae Heidler – Clinton (Hanover Twp.)

Lois Mae Heidler, 77 of Clinton (Hanover Twp) passed Saturday evening, April 19, 2025 at Allegheny General Hospital. Born December 20, 1947 in Steubenville, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William C. & Stella M. (Kalinowski) Gettinger. In addition to being a homemaker, Lois had worked as a certified nurse’s aid at the Golfview Nursing Home in Aliquippa for many years, she was also an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wilson H. Heidler and a son Willie Heidler. Continue reading

Dennis Leland Floyd, 68 of Hookstown (Hanover twp.) passed Thursday morning, April 17, 2025. Born March 8, 1957 in Rochester, he was the son of Marian (Shaffer) Floyd and the late Richard Leland Floyd. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother Terry Floyd. He is the beloved husband of 43 yrs to Brenda (Ross) Floyd, father of Clayton Leland and Kylee Floyd, son in law of Don Ross and the proud grandfather of Brayden, Hudson & Mason Floyd. James A. Hughes Jr., 77 of Clinton “Hanover Twp.” Passed in the comfort of his home Friday afternoon, April 4th 2025. Born August 27th 1947 in Clinton, he was the son of the late James A. and Agnes (Brunner) Hughes. James worked as a crane operator with J&L Aliquippa Works, 14-inch division. Ernest L. Hoffman Sr. – Clinton (Independence Twp.)

Ernest L. Hoffman Sr. 90, of Clinton (Independence Twp.) passed Monday evening, March 24, 2025 at UPMC-Mercy Hospital. Born January 22, 1935 in Waynesburg. He was a son of the late Guy M. & Vista A. (Garber) Hoffman. Ernest had worked as a welder at J&L Steel Aliquippa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Marie (Fox) Hoffman. 2 brothers, Guy and Harold Hoffman and a sister Roberta Hoffman. Continue reading

Brett Johnson – Hookstown

Brett Johnson passed away unexpectedly on March 23, following a decline in health. He was 67. Born March 11, 1958, he was the son of the late James Bruce Johnson and Mary Lou (Boyd) Johnson.

Brett grew up in Hookstown and was a graduate of South Side Area School. He sustained a spinal injury at 23 that left him a paraplegic. Brett loved cars – always a Ford man – and especially Mustangs. He shared an interest in John Deere tractors with his dad and they spent many months restoring a Model LA which was later featured in Green Magazine. Continue reading
