John W. Potts Jr. – Georgetown (Greene Twp.)

John W. Potts Jr., 83 of Georgetown (Greene Twp.) passed Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025 in the comfort of his daughter’s home with family at his side. Born August 30, 1941 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late John W. Sr. and Ruth Eilene (Peterson) Potts.

A retired heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, he was a member of Operators Local # 66, also a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 101st Airborne division. He was a member of the Hookstown American Legion and a life member of the NRA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “LeLe” (McClain) Potts, a brother, Howard Potts and a sister Sharon Smith.

Surviving are his children, Johnna Potts, Janika Owen, Aaron & his wife Tamika Potts, James & his wife Christine Kerner, Thomas & his wife Lisa Kerner, Michael & his wife Kim Kerner and Dawn & her husband Dan McElhaney. Also, his brother David Potts and his late wife Anna. Grandfather of 13, great grandfather of 7.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where his service will be held Saturday, July 12th at 11 am. Cremation will follow with burial to follow in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery; Georgetown.
