Robert G. Fobes Sr. – SEWICKLEY

Robert G. Fobes Sr., 80, of Sewickley, died Wednesday morning, November 21, 2012, in the Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford.

Born Feb. 10, 1932, in Neville Island, he was a son of the late William and Mary Ellen (Hunter) Fobes. He worked as a dispatcher with J&L Steel.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a stepson, Tim Smith; a brother, Paul Fobes and his first wife, Phyllis (Hicks) Fobes.

Inez V. Covert, 91, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), died Saturday morning, Nov. 17, 2012, in the comfort of her home with family at her side.

Born Nov. 2, 1921, in Newell, W.V., she was the last surviving child born to the late John and Laura (Miller) Swan.  A homemaker, she was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed game shows and was a member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church.

Jennifer M. Wakefield, 66, of Beaver (Vanport Twp.), died Thursday afternoon, November 15, 2012, in the comfort of her home with her husband at her side.

Born July 26, 1946, in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Nicolina Perna. A homemaker, Jennifer was a member of the Monaca Chapter of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine.

Ruth A. Cain, 78, of Hookstown (Greene Township), died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, November 11, 2012, at her Hookstown residence.

Born June 30, 1934, in Hookstown, she was the only child born to the late Harold W. and Mary Elizabeth (Mercer) Cain. Ruth was a retired teacher, a well known nature lover and had been a columnist for the Panhandle Press.

Gail Alton Cain, 92, of Cain Road, Hooks-town, Pa., a well known farmer in the area, died Friday afternoon, November 9, 2012, at the Orchards at Foxcrest in Chester, WV.  He was born on the Cain family farm in Shippingport, PA, on August 4, 1920.  He was the last surviving child born to the late Carey Michael and Elizabeth Ellen (Bambrick) Cain.

Virginia Ellen (Wycoff) Smaltz Marshall – CENTER TOWNSHIP

Virginia Ellen (Wycoff) Smaltz Marshall, 84, of Center Twp. died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2012, in Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford, with family at her side.

Born Jan. 3, 1928, in Louise, WV, she was a daughter of the late Carmel W. and Anna Larkins Wycoff. She was a member of the North Branch Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder and was active in many other areas of service. She was a former member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, and also served as an Elder, church school sup't, VBS, Sunday School teacher, and other church related activities. Ginny and her sisters were also former members of the Pittsburgh Water Babes and their Big Sisters, coached by the late Lula Stilley. They put on swimming exhibitions and shows at several country clubs and county parks. She graduated from Carrick High School in June 1945 and first worked as a dental assistant for the Pittsburgh Board of Education and numerous other jobs as a dental assistant for many years.

Hazel Ruth Trimble, 86, of Georgetown, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, October 7, 2012, at Heritage Valley Beaver with her family at her side.

She was the last surviving child born to the late Albert and Idella (Cox) Dean in Junior, WV. Hazel had been employed for 19 years working as a clerk at the Georgetown Post Office. She loved camping and being with her family. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Hookstown American Legion Post 952.

Wilmer Earl Marshall, 87, of Center Township, died Friday afternoon, October 5, 2012, in the comfort of his home, with family at his side.

He was the last surviving child born to the late William Earl and Eva (Allison) Marshall on October 9, 1924, in Bakerstown, PA. He was the beloved husband of 29 years to Virginia (Wycoff) Smaltz Marshall, whom he married January 7, 1983; loving father of Vicky (Troy) Hensley of Wingate, TX, and Janet (Lenny) Schroth of Wampum, and cherished grandfather of Jessica Schroth of Wampum and Matthew Lee Schroth, Senior Airman, U.S.A.F. of Moody AFB, Valdosta, GA. Also surviving are the apples of his eyes, his great-granddaughters, Breanna Lynn and Leah Jaelle Schroth-Killen, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Shirley May Smitsky, 72, of Hookstown (Frankfort Springs Boro), died Friday morning, September 14, 2012, in the comfort of her daughter’s home, Peggy, who was at her side at her passing.

Born March 20, 1940, in Canonsburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Foflygen) McCabe. A homemaker, she loved to work in her flower garden and enjoyed making Frankfort Springs sparkle for all the holiday seasons.
