Gladys E. Martin, 86, of Frankfort Springs, passed Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2015, at Providence Health Care, Beaver Falls.

Born May 21, 1929, in Hookstown, she was a daughter of the late William Franklin and Myrtle Irene (Martin) Gerren. A homemaker, she graduated from high School at Burgettstown and soon after married Harry Martin of Frankfort Spring on November 15, 1962; Harry died in August of 1988. She was a caregiver for Harry’s uncle, “Happy” Stephens. Growing up, she helped the family operate the telephone switchboard for the Frankfort Mutual Telephone Company. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making dolls. She had also served on the election board for the village for a number of years. She was a longtime member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and had made lifelong friends. Continue reading →

Lt. David Peter Sulkowski (Ret.), 68, died peacefully in the comfort of his Georgetown residence on Friday, July 3, 2015, with his family at his side.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he traveled the world as a ship’s navigator on the USS Wandank, USS Finch, USS Meeker County, USS Massey, USS Beaufort and USS Vulcan.  Retired Lt. David Sulkowski was born Nov. 3, 1946, in McKees Rocks, to the late Peter Robert and Margaret (Mayak) Sulkowski.  After 23 years of service and dedication to his country, David retired from the Navy to the home he built with his own hands in Georgetown. Harold R. “Butch” Heizler Jr., 80, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died Thursday morning, June 18, 2015, while in the care of Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born October 31, 1934, in Wheeling, WV, he was a son of the late Harold R. Sr. and Gladys M. (Cowan) Heizler. Mr. Heizler had worked as a millwright with the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp., Aliquippa. Continue reading →

Sarah L. Reddinger, 91, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), died peacefully in the comfort of her home with family at her side on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015.

A lifelong resident of Hookstown, she was born there on October 14, 1923, the last surviving child born to the late Fred and Pauline (McClurg) Martin. Mrs. Reddinger had worked as a clerk with Kmart in Washington and Weirton. She was an avid seamstress who enjoyed sewing and had made numerous quilts in her time. Continue reading →

Charles J. Jungfleisch, 73, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), died Friday morning, June 12, 2015, with his family at his side while in the care at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born in Pittsburgh on July 5, 1941, the only child born to the late Adolph and Mary (Manavich) Jungfleisch, he worked as a truck driver hauling steel. Continue reading →

Martha M. Mayhue, 88, Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.), died Monday evening, June 8, 2015, in the emergency room of Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born April 9, 1927, in McGuffey, Ohio, the last surviving child born to the late Freed and Ora (Hackworth) Ziegler.  A homemaker, she was an avid baker, creating many wedding cakes in her time, enjoyed quilting, sewing and raising greyhounds. Continue reading →

David K. Cooper Sr., 61, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2015.

Born May 16, 1954, in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of the late William and Anna (Krizan) Cooper, he was a heavy equipment operator for Alex E. John Walter Weber, 76, of Clinton (Hanover Twp.), died unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday evening, May 29, 2015, around 9:50 p.m. in his home on Weber Road.
