Denzil R. Wilson – Hookstown

Denzil R. Wilson, 56, of Hookstown passed unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, May 17, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver after a months long illness. Born January 13, 1965, in New Brighton, he was a son of the late Clinton and Barbara (Wright) Wilson. He had worked as a body mechanic in the trucking industry and enjoyed tractor pulls and drag racing. He was also a member of the Beaver Valley Antique Equipment Group.

Surviving is his wife Connie L. (Bishop) Wilson, his children Amanda Wilson of Brynmawr, Pa., Dustin and his wife Amber Wilson of Georgetown and Brittany George and her fiancé Mathew Wilkins of Georgetown. Brother of Dianne Wilson and her companion Jim Zimmer of Whipple, OH. Beloved pappy of Avery and Danica Wilson and Paisley Wilkins. Continue reading

Donna R. Daniels – Georgetown (Hanover Twp.)

Donna R. Daniels, 71, of Georgetown (Hanover TWP.) died peacefully Wednesday evening May 12, 2021, at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital; Pittsburgh. Born September 18, 1949, in Burgettstown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Adamson) Murphy. A homemaker, Donna enjoyed camping, especially with her family, loved going to the Hookstown fair and was an avid cat lover, taking care of countless strays in her lifetime.

James W. Brinkley, 67, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.) passed Tuesday morning May 11, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born March 16, 1954, in Clarksville, W.V., he was a son of the late Walter Wilson and Mabel (Robinson) Brinkley. James had worked as a mill wright in the steel industry before retiring. Beverly Mae Simpson – Shippingport

Beverly Mae Simpson, 88 formerly of Shippingport, passed peacefully with family at her side at The Grove at New Castle on Thursday afternoon April 29, 2021. Born September 29, 1932, in Shippingport, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Nelle (Pease) Gamble. A homemaker, Beverly was a life long member of Little Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Shippingport.

Opal G. Burris – Burgettstown (Hanover TWP.)

Opal G. Burris, 91, of Burgettstown (Hanover TWP.) passed peacefully Wednesday morning at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born September 2, 1929 in Chester; W.V., she  was a daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Craig) Roach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Robert A. Burris on July 12, 2019, a brother Lloyd Roach and a sister Delores Burris.

Surviving are her son and daughter in law Robert A. and Peggy Burris of Burgettstown, a sister Wanda ‘Mike’ Wolanski of Hookstown and her two granddaughters Tammy and Bobbijean Burris.

Family and friends are welcome to call Friday at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, Pa 15050, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where her services will be held Saturday at 11 am. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.

Larry Swaney – Beaver (formerly of Hookstown)

Larry Swaney, 78, of Beaver, formerly of Hookstown, passed peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 14, 2021, at Beaver Health & Rehabilitation Center; Aliquippa.

Born February 24, 1943, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late John Hall and Geraldine (Lemon) Swaney. Larry was a 1963 graduate of South Side High School and was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan. Continue reading

Carol J. Barker, 70, of Industry, passed quietly Saturday evening April 10, 2021, with her children at her side, at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born June 4, 1950, in Aliquippa, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jean (Davidson) Fike.

Judith A. Miller – Georgetown (Hanover TWP.)

Judith A. Miller, 73, of Georgetown (Hanover TWP.) died Saturday afternoon March 20, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born February 18, 1948, in Big Chimney, W.V., she was a daughter of the late Orvle Ira and Lucy May (Legg) Angle.

A homemaker, Judy was the original ‘Anonymous Mom’ during the Desert Storm War, also a member of the Hookstown American Legion ladies auxiliary Post #952. She had also worked at Kline’s Market and up to her death at Johnston’s Market.

She is survived by her sons Kevin (Ruth) Myers, R.T. (Stephanie) Sprankle and a son by heart Josh Marino. Grandmother of Ashley (Bill) Berry, Chelsea, Sarah and D.J. Sprankle and one great grandchild.

Kathleen R. Allison, 65, of Coraopolis died Thursday afternoon March 18, 2021, at UPMC-Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born May 2, 1955, in Sewickley, she was a daughter of the late Victor R., Jr. and Margaret (Dee) Eaton Allison.

Beloved companion of 28 years to Dan Biegenwald, dearest mother of Shannon P. and his wife Lisa Allison, sister of Jeffrey Allison, Robert P. John David Johnson – Ellwood City

John David Johnson, 76, of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania passed away March 11, 2021, surrounded at home by his family.

John was born March 2, 1945, in Shippingport, Pennsylvania to Fred B. and Lillian Ruth (McMahan) Johnson. John or JJ as he was called by many friends, was in the trucking business until he decided to open a scrap recycling business in the mid-nineties. John enjoyed staying busy and he rarely sat still for any length of time.
