Roy Thomas Kramer, 93, of Hookstown, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

He was born January 7, 1931 in the South Hills to the late George and Martha (Heaps) Kramer. Working on the family farm for his first 25 years, Roy cultivated a work ethic that he later modeled for his family. Serving others was Roy’s God-given gift, which included the Boy Scouts, Hanover Presbyterian Church, Hanover Volunteer Fire Department (52 years), and countless family and friends who needed something fixed, built or maintained. With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother Gertrude L. (Wilson) Mott, 93 of Hookstown who passed peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her children and family on Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2024.

One of 4 daughters and a son born to the late Leopha and Alice Mae (Hineman) Wilson in Aliquippa on February 18, 1931. Gert and her sisters were a scrappy bunch, and Gert was an even feistier adult. Never at a loss for words, you knew exactly where you stood with her and she’d let you know it, no matter who you were or where you were at. Penny Rae Kramer, 58, of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully in her childhood home in Hookstown, PA, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

She was born September 6, 1965, in Oakdale, PA, to Roy and Rae Kramer. Penny served in an administrative position at the South Side Area School District for 27 years. Continue reading →

Kenneth W. Davidson, 81 a life time resident of Georgetown (Hanover twp.) passed Friday evening, February 9, 2024 at Heritage Valley Beaver, with family at his side. Born September 23, 1942 in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Ralph K. and Leola Bell (Campbell) Davidson.

Ken had worked as an electrician in the construction industry with Local IBEW #495, a car enthusiast, he enjoyed working on them and was know as the tin wizard around the valley. He was a life long member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Georgetown. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army. Continue reading →

Mark A. Culley, 69 of Georgetown (Hanover twp.) passed Tuesday evening, February 6, 2024 in the comfort of his home with family at his side. Born December 4, 1954 in Washington, PA. he was a son of the late Bill Sr. and Loretta (Froats) Culley. Mark was a retired steel worker having worked for J&L Steel and Republic steel of Canton Ohio.

Joyce M. Potts, 89 of Hookstown passed away peacefully Friday morning, January 26, 2024 at Heritage Valley Sewickley surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born May 16, 1934 in Chester, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Mary Elizabeth (Gladwell) Fetty. Connie L. Tate, 81 of Dearborn Michigan (formerly of Hookstown) passed Saturday morning, January 20, 2024 at Optalis Health & Rehabilitation Center in Allen Park. Born July 11, 1942 in Rochester, PA., she was a daughter of the late Almon and Gertrude (Embrey) Hollister. Connie had worked as a caregiver in the health care industry. David J. Zakutney, 61 of Hookstown (Frankfort Springs Boro) passed Monday, January 1, 2024 at UPMC-Montefiore with his wife, sons and daughter-in-law at his side. Born August 27, 1962 in Philipsburg, PA. He was a son of Ruth (Heverly) Zakutney and the late Ralph Zakutney. Dave had worked as a machinist with Flowserve of Bridgeville. He loved riding his Harley and dirt bikes, basically anything with wheels and a motor. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and listening to music and going on cruises, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren, wife and sons. Continue reading →

Lynn B. Hall, 74 of Hookstown (Greene Twp) died peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2023 in the comfort of his home. Born March 10, 1949 in Weirton, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Clyde Vincent and Evelyn Marie (Call) Hall.

A graduate of South Side High School, class of 1967, Lynn was a veteran of the Vietnam war, serving as a SP4 in the US Army. He was a retired pipefitter with Weirton Steel and after retiring from there, he spent 27 years working at Falconi Automotive in Moon Twp. He was a Hookstown baseball coach for both of his sons along with being a Cub Scout Leader for them as well. Continue reading →

Pindilli, 72 of Hookstown (Frankfort Springs Boro) passed peacefully Sunday morning, December 24, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous hardfought battle. Born June 22, 1951 in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Kathryn Juanita (Hall) Patton.

A graduate of South Side High School class of 1969, Diane had worked as a licensed practical nurse in the health care industry. She served as secretary for the South Side Little Rams, enjoyed card clubs with friends that met weekly and was a member of both the Rochester and Slovan VFD ladies auxiliary. Continue reading →
