James “Dick” Hall – Burgettstown (Hanover Twp)
James Richard Hall, 86, of Florence, passed away on May 9, 2025 in Pittsburgh surrounded by his family.
James “Dick” Hall was born December 3, 1938 to the late Clyde and Evelyn Hall. James grew up on what is now Ponderosa Golf Course raising cattle with his parents and eight siblings. Even after the farm sold, James still made time to go have “din din” on Fridays at the golf course with his wife and grandchildren.
On July 16, 1960, James marries Barbara Zelenko who survives. They were blessed with four loving children. In 1978, James and Barbara built their home Florence.
James was a hard worker. His younger days were spent on the railroad working various jobs. After retirement, James was the caretaker of Grandview Cemetery in Florence, PA., which he did until his passing.
James had a passion for anything with an engine, especially heavy equipment. James was always working on his dump trucks and backhoes. He spent time at many auctions and tinkering on machines with his dear friend, Tim Roman. James had a great sense of humor and shared that often with his grandchildren. His nicknames, jokes, and ornery disposition will be sorely missed by his family.
James is survived by his loving wife, Barbara. Their four children, James Jr. (Delayne) Hall, Joseph (Kelly) Hall, Mary Hall-Kellar, and Suzanne Hall. His grandchildren who loved him dearly, Melissa (Dave), Vance (Lesley), James. Emily (Ron), Olivia and Hallsy; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Gavin and Geo.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Evelyn and his siblings, Phylis, Wanda, Juanita, Ronnie, Bob, Dwain, Judy, and Lynn. James also lost his grandson and buddy, Justin, in 2024 and Vic Vladich (Suzanne’s boyfriend).
James will be remembered for his hard work ethic and his fiery spirit.
