Gertrude Hughes McFadden
In Loving Memory of Gertrude Hughes McFadden.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, who went home to be with her Lord on February 17, 2025 at the age of 88.
Gertrude was born to David and Anna Hughes in Grove City, PA. She grew up on Richardson Rd. She attended Grove City High School and was an active member of The Grange.Starting in 1979, Gertie worked faithfully as the administrator for Community Bible Church and Bethel Christian School, until she retired in 2019. She worked to ensure the church and school ran smoothly, never seeking her own recognition but out of her deep love for God and others. Whether the need was big or small, she stepped in with a selfless spirit and unwavering grace.
Above all, Gertrude was a loving wife of sixty two years to the late Robert Dale McFadden, mother to four children, grandmother to twelve, great-grandmother to five, and friend to all. Her family was her greatest joy; she poured her heart into creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and faith. She led by example, teaching those around her the power of kindness, patience, and unconditional love.
Gertrude is preceded in death by her sister Anna Mary Coulter and brothers David and Merle Hughes. She is survived by her brother Pat Hughes, children Kelly (Doug) McDonough, Dr. Ron McFadden, Brenda (Jeff) Boese, and Marsha McFadden; her grandchildren David (Emily) McDonough, with their children Delaney, Rhys, and Makenna; Aaron (Elizabeth) McDonough, with their children Ava and Oliver; Elizabeth Boese; Jeffrey (Anna) Boese; Victoria Boese; Julianna (Peter) Clausen; Rebecca (Roger) Shof; Jeremiah Boese; Luke (Lindsey) McFadden; Logan McFadden; Leah McFadden; and Trevor McFadden, and a host of extended family, friends, and church members whose lives were touched by her generosity and compassion.
Gertie dedicated her life to faith, family, and service, leaving us a legacy of kindness and gentleness that will forever be cherished. We take comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of her Savior, greeted with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm on February 20th, 2025, and a service will be held at 11:00 am on February 21st at Community Bible Church, 4549 State Routh 151, Aliquippa, PA.
Her love and light will continue to shine through the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
