James F. Mack, 88, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.), died Sunday, March 22, 2020, at the H.J. Heinz Community Living Center Aspinwall.

Born December 27, 1931, in New Cumberland W.Va., he was a son of the late James G. and Jane.

John A. Anderson, 59 of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.), died Wednesday evening March 18, 2020, in the comfort of his home. Born December 8, 1960, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Charles & Beverly Anne (Krepps) Willy. Leon G. McElhaney Jr., 75, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died unexpectedly Thursday, March 12, 2020, at his Hookstown residence.

Born July 5, 1944, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Leon G. Sr. and Harriet (Korzen) McElhaney. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was an avid and proud farmer, raising beef cattle. He loved his family immensely spending time with all of them was a great joy for him. Robert W. Price, 75, of Clinton, Hanover Township, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2020, in the ER at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born August 1, 1944, in Aliquippa, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Thelma (Roberts) Price. He was a retired millwright having worked at LTV Steel Aliquippa.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carole S. (McGinnis) Price on July 6, 2018; three brothers, Chuck, Red and Bill Price; a sister, Brenda Anderson; two brothers-in-law, Paul Wilcoxen and Mike Baker and a sister-in-law, Darlene Price. Continue reading →

Douglas Edward Sargent Sr., 56, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.), died unexpectedly Monday morning, March 2, 2020, in the Weirton Medical Center.

Born July 9, 1963, in Wheeling, W.Va., a beloved son of Arthur and Agnes (Zoeckler) Sargent, Wheeling, W.Va., Doug delivered tires for National Tire Wholesale of Imperial.  Things that brought him the most joy were hanging out with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle and enjoying his “Get-A-Ways” with his wife and closest friends.   Continue reading →

She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John M. Finley II, her parents, and three sisters, Anna (Polly) Nash, Betty McHaffie, and Lucy Ross. Frances was a 1942 graduate of Toronto High School, Toronto, OH. She attended Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, Mary Washington College (University), Fredericksburg, VA, Community College of Beaver County and The Pennsylvania State University – Beaver Campus. Michael S. Nola, 71, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), died unexpectedly Friday evening, January 31, 2020, in the Weirton Medical Center, ER.

Born April 3, 1948, in Hookstown, son of the late Alexander and Martha (Allen) Nola, he worked as a steelworker with ATI and Crucible Steel Companies of Midland. Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam era. He was Catholic by faith and attended St. Blaise Church, Midland. He enjoyed paranormal research and events belonging to the West Virginia Center for Unexplained Events; Fayette County Big Foot Research Projects; KLM Paranormal; and the Beaver County Center for Unexplained Events. Mary Lou Johnson, 92, of Hookstown, passed from this world on January 15, 2020, and is now at peace with the Lord. She had a recent decline in heath.

She was born on August 28, 1927, to Howard and Minnie Boyd and has a younger sister, Alice (Don) Gardner and had a brother Sam, who preceded her in death.

Mary was a graduate of Hopewell High School. She worked many years at the Melody Lane Skating Rink in Hookstown at the coat check and also at South Side High School, where she retired in 2007 after 36 years of service in the cafeteria, first in the kitchen and then as secretary to the Food Service Director. JoAnn (White) Roberts of Aliquippa (Hanover Twp.), went to meet her Lord, Sunday morning, January 12, 2020.

She was the daughter of the late George and Rachel (Cumpston) White. She was born in Washington, Pa. and graduated from Washington High School. She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and helped with other church activities over the years. JoAnn was a Democratic Committeewoman for Hanover Twp. for over 50 years. She was a former assistant Girl Scout Leader. JoAnn had a kind heart and couldn’t leave a hurt or sick animal. She would take them home and care for them. Whatever activities her children or grandchildren were in she was there to help. You always saw a can of Coke with her.
