Thomas M. Malloy, Jr., 87, of Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.), passed unexpectedly Monday, December 26, 2022 at his residence. Born February 18, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. Robert A. Rupert, 75, of Hanover Township, passed December 26, 2022 in his home after fighting a blood cancer for more than 15 years. Born on May 23, 1947 on a small farm in Apollo, Pennsylvania, Bob began working at age 15 for M&H Pressure Casting. After graduating from Penn Joint High School, he entered PIA technical school where he obtained his A & P license. His career as an airplane mechanic was interrupted by “a stint in the US Army and a free trip to Vietnam”. His career in the Aero Space Industry lasted 41 years.

Bob’s interest in metalsmithing gave him much pleasure. He went on to learn more when he joined the local ABANA chapter, Pittsburgh Area Artists and Blacksmith Association, PAABA, serving as their President and Vice President for about 10 years. Attending classes in Missouri led him to author and self-publish a book “Fundamentals in Blacksmithing”. Continue reading →

Jennie E. McRoberts, 86, of East Liverpool, passed quietly Christmas morning, December 25, 2022 in the comfort of her home with family at her side. Born February 8, 1936 in Washington, PA., she was a daughter of the late John T. and Sarah S. (Crawford) Antill. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert H. McRoberts.

She is survived by her children Patti and David Reed, Samuel “Bud” and Terri McRoberts and Robert and Maria McRoberts. Sister of Sarah Chromack and Doris Bogart. Gregory David Sparks, 65, of Midland (Ohioville Boro) passed Thursday morning, December 15, 2022, at Heritage Valley Beaver with family by his side. Born April 12, 1957, in Phoenix Arizona to the late Roland Dale and Wilma Jean (Miller) Sparks. Greg had worked as a technical director at KDKA in Pittsburgh and was a voice over talent.

Beloved husband of 34 years to Lynette D. (Shank) Sparks, dearest father of Ben Gonzales, Brianna Sparks, Hannah and her husband Nick Leheny and Luke and his fiancée Cassie Sparks. Caroline B. Yee of Ambridge, PA passed away on December 12, at age 100 years. Born in Rochester, PA in November 1922, Ms Yee was one of 7 children born to Chinese parents who came to the US in early 1900’s.

She was pre-deceased by her Mother in 1960; her father in 1980; her younger sister Helen Ruth in 1943; brothers Sing and John in 2008, sister Elizabeth in 2018; brother Joseph in 2020; and her good friend Ang Ambrose in 2001. Continue reading →

Delores A. “Dee” Irons, 78, of Beaver (Brighton Twp.) passed unexpectedly Saturday evening, December 10, 2022, in the comfort of her home. Born May 31, 1944, in Aliquippa, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Annetta (Ferry) Schmidt. In addition to being a home maker, Delores had worked as the V.P.
of Sales for Mayer China in Beaver Falls and most recently at Gateway Rehabilitation Center, where she cooked. She was a member of the House of Prayer Evangelical Lutheran Church of Aliquippa. Delores loved baking, and especially enjoyed sweets, gardening and being in her yard in any kind of weather. She was an immaculate housekeeper who was so proud of her home. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Wayne Searight of Hookstown passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice Wexford after battling multiple cancers from the age of 22. He was 70 years old. Wayne was born to Lawrence and Mildred (Kitty) Searight in Sewickley on August 23, 1952.

Wayne worked at Scott Lumber in Weirton and Holloway Supply in Pittsburgh, but when his daughter was born, Wayne became a full-time stay-at-home dad and a part time clock maker. Until she started school, father and daughter often traveled throughout the tri-state making house calls and repairing grandfather clocks.

Wayne lived his entire life in the Hookstown area, most of it in his childhood home. He was a life-long member of the Mill Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Hookstown, serving in various positions, including elder and chairman of the Building Committee for the new sanctuary. William Harry Barrett, Sr., 81, of Hookstown, PA, passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh. He was born on March 8th, 1941, in East Liverpool, OH to the late John and Wilda Marie (Sayers) Barrett. He was a decorated military veteran that served in the US Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Army Rangers and in the elite Special Forces during the pre-Vietnam/early Vietnam era. Upon his discharge, he worked at J&L Steel, J&L Structural as a Maintenance Engineer and as a Structural Superintendent at some of the area’s top heavy construction companies, where he worked on many of the buildings and bridges in the greater Pittsburgh area. Born May 25, 1954 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late William A. and Martha Jone (Bishoff) Miscuk Sr. Before being disabled Dennis had worked in the construction industry.
