James “Jamie” Laughlin Jr. – Cincinnati, OH

James “Jamie” Laughlin Jr., 56, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Hookstown, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2024. He was the beloved son of James and Donna (Rogers) Laughlin of Greene Township.

Jamie always had a love for science and service and his vocation path into education was no surprise. Most recently he was a teacher for 16 years in the chemistry department at Saint Xavier High School in Cincinnati. He took pride in all of his students. He loved seeing their love for the Lord and for science in action. He enjoyed being the coach of the St. Xavier Science Olympiad team and leading the efforts for a food drive every November. Prior to St. Xavier, he taught at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy for 8 years. Jamie was a 1987 graduate of South Side High School in Hookstown. Jamie graduated from Gannon University in 1991 with a BS degree in Chemistry and Biology, from Ohio University in 1994 with a MS degree in Chemistry, and from Miami University of Ohio in 1999 with his PhD.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a younger brother Tadd (Joy) Laughlin of Carnegie, Pa and younger brother Brandon Laughlin of Chicago and his late brother Brent Laughlin.

Niece and Nephew Emma and Brady Laughlin. He was loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, Pa. 15050 on Sunday from 12-3 and 6 pm, until the time of his service at 8 pm. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown. Memorials in his name can be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society of Cincinnati, Ohio 45214 or a children’s charity of one’s choice.
