Donald G. Gardner – Shippingport

Donald G. Gardner, 95, passed from this world peacefully on November 23, 2024 in his home at Apple Blossom Senior Living, where he had resided for the past three years.

He was born on January 12, 1929 in Rochester to the late Carl and Irene (Cotter) Gardner.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in Midland in 1946 and furthered his education at Geneva College, where he studied Mechanical Engineering.

He married his wife, Alice M. Boyd on February 14, 1948.

Don worked at Babcock and Wilcox before retiring in 1985. In 1976, he and his wife co-owned and operated the Foliage House Florist and Greenhouse in Hookstown before retiring from the business in 1989.

Don lived all his life in Shippingport, where he was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was very active in his community and was a past President of the Shippingport Council as well as a past member of the Shippingport Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Beaver Falls Elks Lodge #348 as well as the Glasgow Masonic Lodge #485 in Shippingport.

Don and Alice spent part of the year in their home in North Ft. Meyers Florida, where he was a member of the Coral Oakes Country Club. Don was an avid golfer who loved the game.

He is preceded in death by his wife Alice and survived by his nephews and niece Clay, Brett and Amy Johnson and nephews John M., Steve and Cole Boyd.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Apple Blossom and Advance Hospice for their care and kindness.

Uncle Don was a good and kind man with a generous heart and a happy disposition. He will be missed.

Per family wishes, there will be no visitation and a private burial.
