David J. Zakutney – Hookstown (Frankfort Springs Boro)

David J. Zakutney, 61 of Hookstown (Frankfort Springs Boro) passed Monday, January 1, 2024 at UPMC-Montefiore with his wife, sons and daughter-in-law at his side. Born August 27, 1962 in Philipsburg, PA. He was a son of Ruth (Heverly) Zakutney and the late Ralph Zakutney. Dave had worked as a machinist with Flowserve of Bridgeville. He loved riding his Harley and dirt bikes, basically anything with wheels and a motor. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and listening to music and going on cruises, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren, wife and sons.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his father-in-law Robert Gunter and his son John C. Zakutney on August 5, 2011.

Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Gwili (Gunter) Zakutney, whom he married May 7, 1983, his sons David and Tasha Zakutney and Sam Zakutney. Brother of Scott Zakutney and his mother-in-law Gale Gunter. His brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Betsy Gunter, and his sister-in-law and husband, Colleen and Rich Pickens. Proud grandfather of 5, Lilly, Dylan, Trinity, Sophia and Addison, along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, Pa. 15050 on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. His service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 am. Conducting his service will be his daughter-in-law, Tasha Zakutney. He will be laid to rest next to his son in the Grandview Cemetery; Florence,PA.
