Terry Ogden Tebbets – Hookstown
Terry Ogden Tebbets, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on May 19th, 1950, to the late Ogden and Arlene Tebbets of Forest Hills, PA.
After graduating from Geneva College in 1972, Terry became a teacher at South Side Area Schools. He taught sixth grade for 35 years, focusing on social studies where he loved to teach about ancient Egypt and Greece. He helped oversee the construction of countless sugar-cube pyramids and papier-mache models. He also coached football for 16 years and ran the clock for hundreds of sporting events. He helped guide thousands of students during his career, which filled him with great pride and joy.
He met the love of his life, Sue, at South Side. They spent 46 blissful years together. They took advantage of their summers off to go on family road trips across the US – making it to nearly all 50 states with Terry at the wheel and Sue navigating. Hawaii was their favorite destination. They went there on their honeymoon and went back several times.
In addition to his beloved wife, Sue, Terry is survived by his children, Brad (Allie) and Christine (Matt). His five granddaughters (Kenna, Kynlee, Kodi, Thayer, and Gwen) held a special place in his heart. He never tired of their requests for a tickle or hug. He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon and Pam, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Terry will be remembered for his dedication, patience, wisdom, and humor. He will be dearly missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Family and friends are invited to honor Terry’s memory on Monday, October 19th from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM at MCCONNEL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA 15050. Services will also be held at MCCONNEL FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, October 20th starting at 10 AM with his minister, Reverend Jefferson Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at Mill Creek Cemetery in Hookstown, PA.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the memory unit at Villa St. Joseph and Concordia Hospice Care for the compassionate care, love, and support they provided Terry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Terry’s name to the Beaver County Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital
