Rita Marlene Campbell, 66, of Hookstown, Pa., passed away at her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.

She was born in Washington, Pa., on October 12, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Bill and Delores (Shine) Burris.

Rita was a 1969 graduate of South Side High School where she met the love of her life, Jerry, with whom she was married for 48 years. Rita enjoyed making memories and sharing the company of her beloved friends. She has a special group of friends that are more like sisters to her that she knew and loved for over 60 years (Mary Taylor, Diane Pindilli, Martha Awerman, Sandra Weikel, Christine Duke, Becky Henderson). Harry E. Betke, 74, of Georgetown, died Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, with his family at his side.

Born March 20, 1944, in Beaver Falls, a son of the late Alfred E. and Louanna C. (Barkley) Betke, he was a retired coal handler with Applied Energy Services of Monaca. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he had served during the Vietnam Era. He was member and past commander of the Hookstown American Legion Post 952, a member of the Legionnaires, and a member of the Hookstown American Legion Riders. Wanda Foringer, 93, of Shippingport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, June 10, 2018. She completed a life dedicated to her faith and family.

She served in many behind-the-scene capacities at Community Bible Church, teaching and helping with children’s programs, Ladies Missionary Group, baking, and organizing and stocking the church library. Continue reading →

Arlene R. Wasson, 65, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died Saturday morning, June 2, 2018, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.

Born April 27, 1953, in Confluence, Pa., a daughter of the late Martin G. and Hazel M. (Lyons) Nichols, she was a retired accountant having worked for the Yoder Electrical Co. of Jerome, and the Beaver Women’s Shelter.  She was a member of the Mill Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Hookstown. She was a foster mother for years, but her joy was being with her grandchildren, traveling, camping and cruising.  Continue reading →

Richard K. Rogers, 70, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.) died Sunday evening, May 27, 2018, in the comfort of his home.

Born March 19, 1948, in Rochester, a beloved son of the late William Gerald and Goldie (Renner) Rogers, he was a retired bridge inspector with PennDot. He was an avid boater; anything on water he was doing it.  He enjoyed summers at Geneva on the Lake, camping, and working with his equipment.

JoyceAnn Marie Mihalik, 55, of Aliquippa (Greene Twp.), died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018, peacefully in the comfort of her home.

Born October 28, 1962, in Sewickley, she was the beloved daughter of Frank Andrew Belich of Slippery Rock and the late Ann Marie (Dutkovich) Belich. She worked as a caregiver at Allegheny Valley School. She enjoyed gardening and canning, collecting coins, and making up scrapbooks of family and friends’ photos. She was an avid cat lover, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and watching drag racing and NASCAR.  Continue reading →

William H. Moore, 84, of Hookstown, died Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born October 10, 1933, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late William J. and M. Elizabeth (Campbell) Moore. He was a truck driver for Texaco Inc., Coraopolis, for 28 years, having retired in 1986 with the Two Million Mile Driving Safety Commendation. Bill grew up with ponies and horses all of his life. His father, before him, always had both and he was always riding with his friends in Hookstown. He and his family enjoyed going to the county fairs and festivals, participating in pony pulling contests. Bill enjoyed driving, traveling west to visit family in California and other sites. He became interested in restoring antique John Deere tractors. In 1992, he exhibited his 1953 John Deere Model 40 in Davenport, Iowa, accompanied by friends, Jim and Mary Kay Shutt, also exhibitors at the John Deere Expo. He loved and was devoted to his family. Come October, Bill always looked forward to attending the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio, for 47 years.  Continue reading →

Lois F. King, 79, of Georgetown, died Sunday morning, April 22, 2018, at Washington Commons, Bridgeville, with family at her side.

Born June 12, 1938, in Pittsburgh, she was a beloved daughter of the late John and Mildred (Schmidt) Conlon. A homemaker, she was a retired custodian for the One Source Company at the Pittsburgh International Airport and also retired from the Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Center Twp., where she had worked as a cook.
