JoyceAnn Marie Mihalik, 55, of Aliquippa (Greene Twp.), died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018, peacefully in the comfort of her home.

Born October 28, 1962, in Sewickley, she was the beloved daughter of Frank Andrew Belich of Slippery Rock and the late Ann Marie (Dutkovich) Belich. She worked as a caregiver at Allegheny Valley School. She enjoyed gardening and canning, collecting coins, and making up scrapbooks of family and friends’ photos. William H. Moore, 84, of Hookstown, died Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born October 10, 1933, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late William J. and M. Elizabeth (Campbell) Moore. He was a truck driver for Texaco Inc., Coraopolis, for 28 years, having retired in 1986 with the Two Million Mile Driving Safety Commendation. Bill grew up with ponies and horses all of his life. His father, before him, always had both and he was always riding with his friends in Hookstown. He and his family enjoyed going to the county fairs and festivals, participating in pony pulling contests. Bill enjoyed driving, traveling west to visit family in California and other sites. He became interested in restoring antique John Deere tractors. In 1992, he exhibited his 1953 John Deere Model 40 in Davenport, Iowa, accompanied by friends, Jim and Mary Kay Shutt, also exhibitors at the John Deere Expo. He loved and was devoted to his family. Lois F. King, 79, of Georgetown, died Sunday morning, April 22, 2018, at Washington Commons, Bridgeville, with family at her side.

Born June 12, 1938, in Pittsburgh, she was a beloved daughter of the late John and Mildred (Schmidt) Conlon. A homemaker, she was a retired custodian for the One Source Company at the Pittsburgh International Airport and also retired from the Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Center Twp., where she had worked as a cook. William B. “Bill” Carpenter II, 61, of East Liverpool, Ohio, died Thursday afternoon, April 12, 2018, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family.

Born June 11, 1956, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of William B. Carpenter of California and the late Miriam Jean (Minesinger) Carpenter. He had worked as a truck driver with PGT Trucking, Monaca, until 2010 when illness prevented him from doing so. A graduate of South Side High School, class of 1974, his passion was RC car racing, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his grandkids. He was also an avid wood craftsman. Continue reading →

William F. Shinke, 83, of Frankfort Springs, died Wednesday afternoon, April 11, 2018, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born November 30, 1934, in Beaver, he was a son of the late Christian and Ellen Patricia (McKenna) Shinke. He was a retired steelworker, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a sergeant, a member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, and was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School class of 1952. He was a member of the New Cumberland VFW Honor Guard and most proud of his work doing NDT at nuclear power plants after retirement. David Patrick Wilson, 87, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died quietly Thursday morning, April 12, 2018, at the Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center, Brighton Twp.

Born June 19, 1930, in Kenova, W.Va., he was the last surviving son born to the late Dave and Tokie (Hensley) Wilson. He was a retired welder with Local 449 in the HVAC industry. He enjoyed spending time with the “guys” at the Center Twp. McDonald’s. Continue reading →

Nancy Lou Weber, 84, of Negley, Ohio, formerly of Clinton, died Thursday evening, March 29, 2018, at the Vista Center, Lisbon, Ohio, with her son and daughter-in-law at her side.

Born July 9, 1933, in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late Clyde Milton and Margaret (Messner) Hays. A homemaker, she had participated with the Scouts program in her early years, and was a member of the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Thomas B. “Budd” Sherwood, 87, of Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.), died Monday evening, March 26, 2018, in the comfort of his home, with his family at his side.

Born August 22, 1930, in Oil City, Pa., he was the only child born to the late Thomas Emmitt and Marcella Evelyn (Davis) Sherwood. He was a retired steelworker for U.S. Steel for over 43 years. An avid hobby farmer, he was a lover of animals, and would do anything for their welfare. He had a lifelong love of cars and antiques; he could look at an old bumper and tell you the make and model of the car it belonged to. Sue Ellen Roberts, 62, of Aliquippa (Hanover Twp.), died Wednesday afternoon, March 14, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born August 3, 1955, in Washington, PA, she was the beloved daughter of Gene and JoAnn (White) Roberts of Hanover Twp. Sue worked as a mechanical estimator for Scalise Industries of Bridgeville,  and was a member of the Mill Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Hookstown where she also served as a deacon. Children from the Bible Club knew her as “The Kitchen Lady.” An avid cat lover, she adopted any stray that found her. She was most proud of her mission trip she made to Brazil and had an impact on all who knew her.  Continue reading →
