Muriel M. Phillips – HOOKSTOWN (GREENE TWP.)
Muriel M. Phillips, 94, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died Saturday afternoon, October 4, 2014, with her family at her side on her birthday at Rochester Manor and Villa.
Born in McAdam, Canada, on Oct. 4, 1920, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Hazel (Gallison) Grass. A homemaker, Mrs. Phillips attended the Hookstown Free Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Phillips on June 29, 1999; a son, Michael Duane Phillips; a stepson, Russell Phillips; two brothers, Horace and Elmont Grass and two sisters, Margaret Sawyer and Marie Garrish.
Surviving are a son, David Kenneth Phillips Jr. of Florida and his late wife Linda; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Keith Waxler of Hookstown, and a stepson, Edward and his wife, Sue Phillips of Aliquippa; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Jessie Grass, of Maine and her two sisters, Alice Grass of Maine and her late husband Bud, and Cynthia Longfellow of Maine and her late husband Dell. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Valerie and her husband Brian Bonner, Brenda and her husband Paul Ware, Susan Waxler, Kaitlin Phillips, Jenny Lynn and Stacia Brummels, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to call in the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner/Director, on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. where a service will be held Friday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski, of the Hookstown Free Methodist church, is officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
