George E. Conkle – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)
George E. Conkle, 69, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died Tuesday morning, January 30, 2018, at St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born July 1, 1948, in Sewickley, he was the only child born to the late W. Clayton and Verna (Fike) Conkle. George was a self-employed retired dairy farmer. He had worked for the South Side Garage for over 45 years, driving buses for the South Side School District. He was also a member of the South Side School Board for 21 years, and was a member and past worshipful master of Shippingport Glasgow Lodge No. 485 F&AM.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Brenda (Graham) Conkle, whom he married March 1, 1967; his children, Richard Conkle of Hookstown, Lori Conkle of Hookstown, and John and his wife Lara Conkle of Chester, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl and Linda Graham of Tennessee; James and Donna Graham of Irwin; Lois Graham of Charleston, W.Va.; Fay Stafford of Chester, and Carol Carvell of California. He was the beloved grandfather of Jonathan Kerr, Victoria Kerr and Kylie Conkle. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Neal, of the Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Members of Shippingport Glasgow Lodge 485 F&AM will conduct a service for their late brother on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. By Order of the Worshipful Master. John L. Stewart, Secretary.
He will be laid to rest in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
