Edward J. Winters Jr. – GEORGETOWN (GREENE TWP.)

Edward J. Winters Jr., 84, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), passed away at the Kindred Hospital at Heritage Valley Beaver, on Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013, after a brief illness.

Born July 17, 1928, in McDonald, he was the son of the late Edward and Clara (Langhurst) Winters. Edward graduated from Chester High School in 1946 and served honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the FAA where he worked as an electronics technician, Edward spent his retirement years on his farm in Greene Twp. He was a former member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church of Hookstown. Edward’s hobbies included working with farm machinery, playing the accordion, and taking care of his dogs. He was also a former member of the Studebaker Drivers Club Inc.

Surviving are his four sisters in the Hookstown area, Virginia Woodling, Marjorie Morgan, Ruth Heilinger and June Canter; several nieces and nephews and their families, and his good friends, Jerry and Sue Masley, Mike and Amanda Masley, and Jimmy Johnson.

Family and friends are welcome to call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director. Everyone is asked to meet Tuesday at the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, 5005 Route 151, Hookstown, PA 15050, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Nathan Weller officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to thank his caregivers at the Kindred Hospital for their care while he was in their facility.
