Barbara Etta Parker, 56, passed peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2018. She was being treated at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh after a series of strokes.

Barbara “Barbie” was born July 26, 1962, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Carol (Louk) McLaughlin, Georgetown and the late Wesley McLaughlin.

Barbie divided much of her time between enjoying novels and crocheting for family, friends and craft seekers alike. Barbie also enjoyed baking cookies, especially with the help of her grandson, Russell, during his visits. Continue reading →

Bacil R. Brown, 81, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2018, in his Hookstown home.

Born January 28, 1937, in Wheeler, W.Va., he was a son of the late Harry W. and Retha (Collins) Brown. He was a retired steelworker, a lifetime member of the South Side Sportsman’s Club, a member of the Hanover Twp. VFD since 1975. Bacil loved the great outdoors and was an avid hunter. David W. (Butter) Wilson, age 48 of Chester, W. Va. died unexpectedly Saturday evening, November 3, 2018, at his Chester home.

Born August 7, 1970, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Clinton and Barbara (Wright) Wilson.

He worked in the steel industry as a steel fabricator. He was a member of the Sons of the Legion Post #121 of Chester, the Beaver Valley Antique Association, Community Benefit Committee and the Tri State Pullers. Continue reading →

Laura P. Jungfleisch, 71, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), died Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018, while under the compassionate care of the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born May 20, 1947, in Boyd County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Wert and Grace (Ison) Rigsby. A homemaker, Laura had attended the Parish Family of St. Blaise, Midland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Jungfleisch, on June 12, 2015, and two brothers, Thurman and June Rigsby. Continue reading →

Anna Taylor, age 90, of Aliquippa (Independence Township), died Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Elmcroft of Chippewa.

Born August 18, 1928, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Peter and Agnes (Blateky) Korzen. A homemaker, Anna was a member of the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church. She was an avid and very good quilt maker. She, along with her late husband, had also raised peacocks and chinchillas.

She was very family oriented having all her children living close by, so she enjoyed having her grandchildren near her. Continue reading →

Douglas Paul Hankey, 40, of Clinton, Pa., passed away October 6, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Born November 29, 1977, he was the son of John F. and Sandra M. Hankey. Doug worked in the fracking industry for some time and his last employment was at Aldi’s. Music and guitars brought Doug many hours of happiness throughout his life. Encouraged by his Uncle Bill, Doug grew cacti and succulents and raised tropical fish. He loved polar bears and his Aunt Pam brightened his day with many of them, throughout his illness. His puppy, Cooper, loved to sleep with him on his bed and keep him company. Doug’s bright smile and keen sense of humor lifted everyone’s spirits around him. His nieces and nephews brought joy and happiness to his life and he loved to hear about their activities. Virginia S. Hyre, 81, of Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.), died peacefully Thursday evening, October 4, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born January 3, 1937, in Pittsburgh, she was the last surviving daughter to the late Ralph L. and Lillian (Akerley) Marcus.

Carol Lea ‘Kay’ Nusser, 83, Georgetown (Greene Twp.) died peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 2018.

Born June 30, 1935, in New Cumberland, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Syres Ellwood and Eva Gertrude (Mikeals) Stewart. Along with being a homemaker, she was employed by the South Side Elementary School working in the maintenance department. Thomas E. Manning Sr., 86, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), died Thursday afternoon, September 13, 2018, at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born April 25, 1932, in Fayetteville, N.C., a son of the late Artemus and Mary L. (Davis) Manning, he was a retired caster having worked at Hussey Copper. He was a member and deacon of the Christian House Baptist Chapel, Aliquippa.
