Barbara M. Tate, 89, of Monaca (Center Twp.), died unexpectedly Sunday morning, December 4, 2016, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born May 18, 1927, in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Jeannette (McIntyre) Irons. A homemaker, Barb enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family and was formerly employed at the Phoenix Glass Company, Monaca, and Hills Department Store, Aliquippa. Continue reading

Daniel T. Lenau – HOOKSTOWN (GREENE TWP.)

Daniel T. Lenau, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died Sunday morning, November 20, 2016, in the comfort of his home with his wife at his side.

Born October 23, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., a son of the late Edgar J. and Ruth Otto (Yung) Lenau, Daniel had worked as a project manager at Matthews International. He had received an associate degree in mechanical engineering, and was a member of the Elks and A.O.P.A. Continue reading

William ‘Bill’ Boyd Gordon – BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP

William B. Gordon died Thursday, November 3, 2016.

Born October 8, 1931, in Rochester, Pa., the son of the late Charles Hampton and Lilian (Issac) Gordon. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by brothers, Donald and Conway.

He was the Director of Fire and Safety at The Medical Center, Beaver, retiring in 1992 and was the long time Fire Chief of the Brighton Twp. Vol. Fire Department serving from 1965 until he “retired” in 1992. He was a veteran of the PA National Guard and the U.S. Army. Continue reading

Gloria E. Rardin, 75, of Clinton (Hanover Twp.), died in the comfort of her home on Monday morning, October 10, 2016, with her husband and sons at her side.

Born June 2, 1941, in Pittsburgh, she was the only child born to the late Earl James and Margaret Mary (Roman) Coulter. A homemaker, Gloria enjoyed being a part of the Red Hat Ladies Group and was formerly employed for numerous years with the Scio China Company. Sarah V. Law – ALIQUIPPA (INDEPENDENCE TWP.)

Sarah V. Law, 75, of Aliquippa (Independence Twp.), went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, October 7, 2016, from the comfort of her home.

Born November 30, 1940, in Monaca, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ida (Tice) McKelvey. Sarah was a Presbyterian by faith and attended the Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church when able. She had worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill, was a deputy constable in Pa., and a school bus driver for Beaver County. Continue reading

Roger Lee Hicks, 73, of Hookstown, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2016.

Roger was born June 7, 1943, in Jane Lew, W. Va., to the late Walter Lambert and Cora Viola (Rodgers) Hicks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Billi Kae Taylor and step-granddaughter, Jocelyn Laurance Taylor. Continue reading

Dorothy E. Hughes, 90, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.), died Wednesday afternoon, September 28, 2016, with her family at her side at Hunter’s Personal Care Home, Aliquippa.

Born April 14, 1926, in Georgetown, she was the last surviving child born to the late Charles and Mary (Laughlin) Campbell. She was a retired custodian from the South Side School District and was formerly a member of the South Side Senior Citizens Group. Nancy L. Allison, 79, of Clinton, (Hanover Twp.), died peacefully Wednesday evening, September 21, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospice with family at her side.

Gerald D. ‘Gerry’ Ruth – HOOKSTOWN (GREENE TWP.)

Gerald D. “Gerry” Ruth, 88, Hookstown (Greene Twp.), beloved husband and father passed away in his home on Wednesday evening, September 14, 2016, following a long illness with heart and lung problems.

He was born in Tuscarawas County, OH, on February 16, 1928, to the late Ernest and Grace (Heston) Ruth.  He was an active member of the Southside Senior Citizen’s Group and president of the organization for over 15 years.  He was retired from the former Kaufmann’s Department Stores as a master mechanic and garage foreman.  He also drove tractor trailer for many years and taught big-rig driving to the “Kaufmann Elite”.  Gerry enjoyed fishing, talking trucks and NASCAR.  He could drive anything on wheels and loved his recreation day group. Paul R. Glenn, 72, of Clinton (Hanover Twp.),  died peacefully Friday, September 9, 2016, under the compassionate care of Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born July 5, 1944, in East Liverpool, OH, an only child of the late Charles R. and Ruth Quinn (Sarver) Glenn, Paul had worked as a custodian at Central Valley School.  He was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed working in his yard with his canine companion, Buddy, at his side. Continue reading
