Donald G. Gardner – Shippingport
Donald G. Gardner, 95, passed from this world peacefully on November 23, 2024 in his home at Apple Blossom Senior Living, where he had resided for the past three years.
He was born on January 12, 1929 in Rochester to the late Carl and Irene (Cotter) Gardner.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Midland in 1946 and furthered his education at Geneva College, where he studied Mechanical Engineering. Continue reading
Daniel J. Frederick – Hookstown (Hanover twp.)
Daniel J. Frederick, 68 of Hookstown (Hanover twp.) formerly of Carnegie and Port Allegany passed Saturday evening, November 9, 2024 at UPMC Passavant, North Hills surrounded by his beloved family. Born December 11, 1955, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John P. and Esther (Bowman) Frederick. Dan worked as maintenance in the glass manufacturing industry. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the South Side Sportsman Club and Roulette Fish and Game Club. Dan was a man who appreciated being surrounded by nature and it’s beauty, while spending time at his camp with family and friends. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church of New Cumberland West Virginia.
He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Jan E. (Merritt) Frederick. Dearest father of Jonathan and his wife Bre Frederick, Daniel and his wife Jess Frederick, and Kelly and her husband Jared O’Neill. Brother of Patricia and her husband Nelson Rhodus. Proud grandfather of 4, Nora, Hank, Wyatt, and Leila. Proceeded in death by his brother John and Sister-in-law Norma Frederick. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Continue reading
Lanny M. Winters – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)
Lanny M. Winters, 77 of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) passed peacefully, Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.
Born August 17, 1947 in Rochester. He was a son of the late James M. and Beulah (Scott) Winters. He worked at First Energy Nuclear Power Plant in Shippingport. He was a member of the Hookstown American Legion, a veteran, serving as a Sgt. in the National Guard, and attended the Hookstown Free Methodist Church. Continue reading
Harold C. Gareis – Georgetown (Hanover Twp.)
Harold C. Gareis, 96 of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.) passed peacefully Monday evening, October 28, 2024 with his children at his side at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born April 25, 1928 in Burgettstown, he was a son of the late Earl and Rose (Rotta) Gareis. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a retired steel worker at Weirton Steel. He enjoyed Farming, hunting but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Marie (Wilkinson) Gareis, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his daughter Rosalie and her husband Ken Mihalcin and a son Ken Gareis. Grandfather of two, Adam and his wife Emmi Mihalcin and Kelsey and her husband Bryan Zilka. His two great grandchildren are Charlotte and Lauren. Brother of June McKitrick and her late husband Richard, Larry Gareis and his wife Judy and Barbara Ann Spinella and her late husband Tom. Robert Lee Mineard Jr., 58 of Beaver, passed Monday morning, October 28, 2024 at his Beaver residence surrounded by family. Born October 28, 1966, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Sr. and Dorothy Louise (Chludzinski) Mineard. Bob had worked as a CNC Programmer for over 30 years with the Traco Company of Cranberry twp. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lynda E. (Halulko) Mineard, his son Westley Lee Mineard, his father-in-law David Halulko, brothers are Keith and his wife Emma Mineard, Raymond Mineard and Steve and his wife Dorothy Mineard, his former sisters-in-laws are Jessica Mineard and Holly Smith. Dale W. Kozarovich, 32 of Burgettstown passed accidently October 28, 2024. Born December 31, 1991 in Sewickley, he was the beloved son of Daniel and his wife Sandra Kozarovich and the late Donna Lee (Black) Kozarovich.
Dale had worked for the State Correctional Institute of Greene County, a member of the Hanover Twp. Police department, and recently became a Corrections Department Police Officer. In addition to his father and step mother, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law Daniel Jr. and Julie Kozarovich; his nephews, Azariah, Judson, Mitchell and Donnie Kozarovich; and his grandfather Samuel Black. Heather L. Scott – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)
With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our Heather L. Scott, 53 of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) on Saturday October 26, 2024 at the ER of Heritage Valley Beaver. She was born June 7, 1971 in East Liverpool, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Arlene (Freeland) Barrett and the late Joseph Barrett.
A graduate of South Side High School, she was a member of the drill team of the school, a devout member of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, she shared her love of the Lord with all she met. Her many likes included roller skating, walking, music, card games, romantic comedies and shopping. In 1992, she was diagnosed with cardio myopathy and received a heart transplant in 2002, which she was ever so grateful for. Continue reading

Brandon David Floyd, 28 of Clinton (Hanover twp.) passed after a courageous fight of a lifelong illness Wednesday afternoon, September 25, 2024. Beloved son of David and Veronica (Ronni) Noss Floyd and special brother of Cortney Floyd, and the grandson of Ellen Noss.
He was a graduate of South Side High School, class of 2015. Brandon was an avid car enthusiast along with playing video games and being on his phone. Samantha R. Anskate, 29 of Georgetown (Greene Twp.) passed tragically Saturday morning, September 7, 2024 at her Georgetown residence.
Born January 26, 1995 in Sewickley, she was the beloved daughter of Sherree D. Clifton and Randy Wilson, and Alexander J. Anskate and Cherry Wright. She was the adoring mother of Tessa Anskate, Charlotte Caler, Lester Caler, Chase Hall, Maryaa Hall and Cheyenne Hall. Also surviving is her fiancée, Bryce Hall.
Sister of Randy Wilson Jr., Jesse “Opie” Wilson, David Reed, Courtney Wilson, Alexandra Anskate, Jocelyn Rettinger and Isabella Anskate. Neice of Rita Formosa, Jessie Kelly and Alda Russo. Jane Lou Hicks – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)
Jane Lou Hicks, 73 of Hookstown (Greene Twp.) our beloved mother and grandmother passed Tuesday afternoon, September 3, 2024 at Heritage Valley Beaver surrounded by the love of her family. Born December 22, 1950 in Kenova, West Virginia. She was the last surviving child born to the late Samuel and Jewel (Board) Frazier.
Along with being a homemaker, Jane was an active member of the Ridge Pointe Family Church in Beaver, along with being the secretary there for many years. Her biggest joy was time spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Roger Lee Hicks, her daughter Billi Kae Taylor, 3 of her grandchildren, Jocelyn Taylor, William Lee Conti and Jonica Tyler Smith, a brother Wilbur ‘Sut’ Frazier and 2 sisters Peggy Jo Wilson and Patty Ann Watt. Continue reading
