William Stewart Matchett – GEORGETOWN (GREENE TWP.)

William Stewart Matchett, 69, Georgetown (Greene Twp.), died unexpectedly Friday morning, December 9, 2016, in the emergency room at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born December 14, 1946, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Homer Clyde and Doris Lee (Cunningham) Matchett. Most recently, William had worked as a coal miner. He was an Air Force veteran having served four years in Vietnam and was a member of the Chester American Legion and VFW.

Surviving are his ex-wife, Donna Lee Matchett, with whom he made his home; a daughter, Dawn Michelle Matchett, North Carolina; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Elene Matchett, Virginia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Jerry Gorney, Georgetown, and Margaret and Phil Sadler, Steubenville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Meagan Nicole and her husband, Ed Parker, and Jonathan Falk and his wife, Ann Parks; two great-grandchildren, Ace and Dean Milo Falk; also a friend and caregiver, Frank Saunders.

Family and friends are welcome to call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, where a service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Harper Brady, of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, officiating, assisted by Jim McMasters.

He will be laid to rest in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown, with full military honors. Members of the Beaver County Special Unit are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12 noon to provide honors.
