William Lloyd ‘Pappy’ Patterson – Formerly of Hookstown
William Lloyd Patterson , 88, of Winterville, NC formerly of Hookstown, PA completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Vidant Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit in Greenville, NC. He was surrounded by his children as he went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born on June 3, 1924, a son of the late William and Anne Patterson. He retired from Texaco, Inc. in 1985 after 32 years of loyal service. He attended Community Bible Church. He remained active after his retirement caring for his vegetable garden. He enjoyed distributing the fruits of his labor, especially his cabbage, to family and friends. He was always willing to help others.
He is survived by his loving children, Sandy and Herb Swoager, Hookstown; Marilynn Frazier, Winterville, NC and Rick and Michelle Patterson, Hookstown. They presented him with 9 precious grandchildren, Denise Lewis and her husband Shawn; Tammy Littell and her husband Tommy; Michele Kuszajewski and her husband Bryan; Wendy Stickles and her husband Mike; Shara Payne and her husband Jason; Mike Patterson and his wife Erin; Eric Patterson and his wife Erin; Billy Patterson III and his wife Joanna and Tyler Patterson. He was blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren, Shannon and Jake Lewis; Taylor and Hunter Beaumont; Izabella and Peyton Littell; Alex and Gabrielle Kuszajewski; Cambria, Madison and Bailey Stickles; Connor, KayLea and Keaton Payne and Sarah, Hannah and David Patterson. He is survived by two brothers Larry Patterson, Reedsville, PA and Henry Patterson, Rehoboth Beach, DE and four sisters Mabel Smith, Warren, OH; Dorothy Wolfe, Ft. Pierce, FL; Frances McConaughey , Ft Pierce , FL and Vivian Shoemaker of Osceola Mills, PA. He will be missed by sisters -in- law Judy and Betty Patterson and Shirley Sudik, many nieces, nephews and friends and his extended family Betty Patterson, Mary and Dick Hamm and Jimmy Beaumont.
Waiting to welcome him were his wife, Helen; son, William L. Patterson, Jr. and son-in-law Cec Frazier. Preceding him in death are his brother Robert Patterson and sister Marie Hummel.
Friends and family are welcome to call Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the McConnell’s Funeral Home, 447 Pine Street Hookstown, PA. Additional visitation will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Community Bible Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. His pastors, Robert Kern assisted by his son Bobby Kern will officiate. Interment will be at the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
