William F. Shinke – Frankfort Springs

William F. Shinke, 83, of Frankfort Springs, died Wednesday afternoon, April 11, 2018, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born November 30, 1934, in Beaver, he was a son of the late Christian and Ellen Patricia (McKenna) Shinke. He was a retired steelworker, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a sergeant, a member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, and was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School class of 1952. He was a member of the New Cumberland VFW Honor Guard and most proud of his work doing NDT at nuclear power plants after retirement. His true love and passion was his home and his wife. 

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Esther (Stephens) Shinke, whom he married November 12, 1960; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Stephen Shinke, Allentown, and Douglas and April Shinke, The Woodlands, Texas; a sister, Helen Margaret, Rochester, and his two granddaughters, Kirstin and Kaylan Shinke.

Family and friends are welcome to call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. only at MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Harper Brady, of the Mill Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Hookstown, will officiate.

He will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery, Florence, with full military honors being provided by the New Cumberland VFW Honor Guard.
