Wayne Searight – Hookstown

Wayne Searight of Hookstown passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice Wexford after battling multiple cancers from the age of 22. He was 70 years old. Wayne was born to Lawrence and Mildred (Kitty) Searight in Sewickley on August 23, 1952.

Wayne worked at Scott Lumber in Weirton and Holloway Supply in Pittsburgh, but when his daughter was born, Wayne became a full-time stay-at-home dad and a part time clock maker. Until she started school, father and daughter often traveled throughout the tri-state making house calls and repairing grandfather clocks.

Wayne lived his entire life in the Hookstown area, most of it in his childhood home. He was a life-long member of the Mill Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Hookstown, serving in various positions, including elder and chairman of the Building Committee for the new sanctuary. He loved to golf.

Wayne is survived by his wife Earlene whom he married December 21, 1973, in a snowstorm, daughter and son-in-law Caity and Doug Waxler of Georgetown, grandsons Jordan and Alex, brothers John and Walter of Hookstown, and Mark, New Cumberland, W.V., sister-in-law Candace Ross, Rogers, Ohio. Brothers-in-law/adopted sons Dewitt (Kerry) Weldon of Holly Springs, N.C. and Todd (Linda) Weldon of Chattanooga, TN., many nieces and nephews and his church family.

Friends and family are welcome to attend his memorial service on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11 am at the Mill Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Hookstown, 5005 Route # 151 Hookstown, Pa. 15050, with pastor Kevin Neal officiating.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials in his name can be made to Mill Creek Church for the building fund.
