Virginia L. Woodling – HOOKSTOWN (HANOVER TWP.)

Virginia L. Woodling, 93, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), died peacefully Thursday evening, September 1, 2016, with her family at her side, under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born October 4, 1922, in McDonald, she was the daughter of the late Edward Sr. and Clara (Langhurst) Winters. A homemaker, Virginia was a dedicated wife, mother and proud grandmother, known by many as a sweet and kind lady who never had a bad day. She was a longtime and very active member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, the Women’s Association of her church and the South Side Senior Citizens Group.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Norman H. Woodling, who passed February 20, 2013; the couple were wed December 31, 1943. In addition to her parents and late husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward J. Winters Jr.; a brother-in-law, Donald Morgan; a sister-in-law, Shirley Woodling; a brother-in-law, Lewis Lyons; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Ulbrich, and a daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Woodling.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Nancy L. (Mike) Skiba, Yorkville, OH; David N. (Bernice) Woodling, Hookstown; Philip J. (Pam) Woodling, Hookstown, and Eileen R. (Burton) Danoff, Weston, FL; sisters, Marjorie Morgan, Hookstown; Ruth E. “Pine” Heilinger, Georgetown, and June Canter, Georgetown; a brother-in-law, Donald Woodling, Hookstown, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lyons, Hookstown. She was the proud grandmother of 13, Lorraine Gaumer, Susan (Frank) McFadden, Adrian Jr. (Amy) Cunningham, Jeremy (Kristin) Woodling, Alyssa (Dan) Hickman, Jacob (Breanna) Woodling, Trisha Woodling, Mary (Daniel) McCauley, Robert (Kelly) Melnick, Ryan Danoff, Shawn (Erica) Danoff, Chase Danoff and Madison Danoff; great-grandmother of 19, Brandon, Brittni, Evan, Emma, Leigha, Audrey, Amber, Kaitlyn, Grace, Isabel, Daniel, Sara, Jonah, Reese, John, Lance, Madelyn, Kaylin and Charlie; also a great-great-granddaughter, Bailee.

Family and friends are welcome to call Sunday from 12 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050. Everyone is asked to meet at the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, 5005 Route 151, Hookstown, PA 15050, on Monday, where her services will be held at 10 a.m. The Rev. Harper Brady will officiate.

She will be laid to rest in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
