Virginia Ellen (Wycoff) Smaltz Marshall – CENTER TOWNSHIP

Virginia Ellen (Wycoff) Smaltz Marshall, 84, of Center Twp. died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2012, in Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford, with family at her side.

Born Jan. 3, 1928, in Louise, WV, she was a daughter of the late Carmel W. and Anna Larkins Wycoff. She was a member of the North Branch Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder and was active in many other areas of service. She was a former member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, and also served as an Elder, church school sup't, VBS, Sunday School teacher, and other church related activities. Ginny and her sisters were also former members of the Pittsburgh Water Babes and their Big Sisters, coached by the late Lula Stilley. They put on swimming exhibitions and shows at several country clubs and county parks. She graduated from Carrick High School in June 1945 and first worked as a dental assistant for the Pittsburgh Board of Education and numerous other jobs as a dental assistant for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph E. Smaltz, in 1976; her second husband of 29 years, Wilmer E. Marshall, who just passed on Oct. 5, 2012; a son, Ralph E. Smaltz Jr., in 1991; two brothers, Wayne T. Wycoff, in 1992; Harold A. Wycoff, in 1970; a sister, Jean Sanders, in 1993.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicky (Troy) Hensley, Wingate, Texas; Janet (Lenny) Schroth, Wampum; Louanne Smaltz Vicaria, Pittsburgh; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Deceder, Ambridge and Kathryn (Richard J.) Stranges, Columbus, OH; two grandchildren, Jessica Renee Schroth and Senior Airman Matthew Lee Schroth; the apples of her eye, two great-granddaughters, Breanna Lynn and Leah Jaelle.

Friends are welcome to call at the TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., CENTER TOWNSHIP, 3475 Brodhead Road, Monaca, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Everyone is to meet on Sunday at the North Branch United Presbyterian Church, North Branch Road, Monaca, where her services will be held at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. William Silver of the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church, Pastor Dennis Stranges of the Vineyard Church, Sunbury, OH, and Pastor Andy Beery of the North Branch United Presbyterian Church.

Private interment will take place at Jefferson Memorial Park.
