Dan McConnell, a licensed funeral director since 1982, is a native of Clinton, PA. He is the son of the late John R. & Marie A. (Krawchyk) McConnell. He is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and acquired  the Hookstown property in  March of 2010, fulfilling his life-long dream of funeral home ownership when he opened as McConnell Funeral Home in September of 2010.

He began complete renovations of both the funeral home and garage buildings in January of  2011 and  completed  that  endeavor in June  of 2011. One of the cornerstones of his beliefs is to treat every family he serves as he would wish to be treated in a similar situation… a belief that is also instilled in his staff members as well.

In addition to his responsibilities of running the funeral home, he enjoys spending time with his siblings; brother Dennis  and his wife Terri (Bres) McConnell and their sons Zac and Josh, and his sister Debbie Ross  and her family, Jerome Vergenes, and their daughter Paige, along with his friends.

He enjoys being active in  community affairs and volunteering his  time whenever possible.

Donald Ross resides in Hookstown with his wife Dolores (Brodmerkel) and is father of Michael Ross and Brenda Floyd. His grandchildren are Clayton Floyd and Parker Ross. His hobbies include driving ponies, going to pony and draft horse event, and making miniature draft horse harnesses.

Don’s responsibilities at the funeral  home include greeting families and their friends during visitation hours, and helping Dan during funerals with organizing processions and keeping the parking lot in order, he also helps in keeping visitation periods and funeral services running smoothly.

Court Hower has lived in the Hookstown community for over nine years with his family Leona, and children Noah and Owen. He grew up in a  small community in Mercer County before moving here to attend school. He is a graduate of the Community College of Beaver County, Penn State University, and Duquesne University School of Law. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends, family, and his animals.

His responsibilities at the funeral home include assisting in the coordination of visitations and services, plus helping with the day to day operations.

Edith Mayhue resides in Raccoon Township with her husband Richard. Edie has four children; Richard, Jessica, Leona, and David, plus six adorable grandchildren. She enjoys spending her free time with her grandchildren, and flea-marketing in the summer.

Edie assists with the preparation of the funeral home, creating the best possible experience for our guests.

Dodie Mccandless resides in Shippingport, PA with her husband Randy and  their three children, Lauren, Katie, and Levi. She has been a hairdresser for over 28 years and is also a passionate artist with degrees from the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Her hobbies include painting portraits, camping, fishing, and spending time with family.

Dodie’s responsibility at the funeral home is to see that the ladies hair styles are recreated, thus bringing comfort to the families we serve.

Darla Messner resides in Clinton with her husband of 44 years, Barry. They have a daughter, Stacey, and a grandson, Justin. She enjoys gardening, reading, and crafting with her daughter.

Darla had worked for her brother-in-law for 28 years until his death, and has now taken on the bookkeeping responsibilities for the funeral home.

April J. Field has lived in the Hookstown area her entire life and currently resides in Georgetown with her daughter Jessica. Her hobbies include sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, and reading.

April is a hostess at the funeral home. Her responsibilities include greeting families and their friends during visitation hours.
