Sarah L. Reddinger – HOOKSTOWN (HANOVER TWP.)

Sarah L. Reddinger, 91, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), died peacefully in the comfort of her home with family at her side on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015.

A lifelong resident of Hookstown, she was born there on October 14, 1923, the last surviving child born to the late Fred and Pauline (McClurg) Martin. Mrs. Reddinger had worked as a clerk with Kmart in Washington and Weirton. She was an avid seamstress who enjoyed sewing and had made numerous quilts in her time.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Vance; her second husband, Cleveland Reddinger; a brother, Oscar Martin, and a sister, Florence D. Simmons.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Robert and his wife Shirley Vance of Georgia, Thomas M. and his wife Mary Vance of Hookstown, Harold C. and his wife Mary Lou Vance of Carrollton, Ohio; Susan and her husband Allan Stewart of McDonald, Cleveland and his wife Nancy Reddinger of Kansas, and Fred Reddinger of Cross Creek. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director. Services will be private. Cremation will take place and her cremains will be interred in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
