Sandy DeBacco – Hookstown (Greene Twp.)

Sandy DeBacco, 80, of Hookstown (Greene twp.) died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, July 6, 2019, in the comfort of his home.

Born October 18, 1938, in West Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Frank and Virginia (Mancini) DeBacco. He was a retired steel worker of 46 years having worked at LTV Steel Aliquippa and a coach and former president of Hanover Youth Baseball. He was also a member of Frankfort Springs Council. Sandy was so very proud of his 46 years at LTV steel and the friendships he made there. Most important to him was his family, his strong love for all of them was evident in how he lived.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Linda M. (Erwin) DeBacco whom he married April 27, 1961; his children and their spouses, Danny and Sandy DeBacco of Georgetown, Frank and Tracey DeBacco of Hanover Twp., Mike DeBacco and Karla Lamp of East Liverpool and Michelle and Rich Shannon of Georgetown. He is the beloved grandfather of eight, Staci (Corey) Checkan, Kaylene DeBacco, Lindsay DeBacco, Scott DeBacco and his fiancée, Kristen DeClaudio, Alyssa DeBacco and her boyfriend, Billy Geary, Matthew DeBacco, Polina Shannon and the late Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ DeBacco and great-grandfather of Rylee and Maddox Checkan. He is also survived by a special niece and nephews, Phil and Virginia Furlong, Anthony DeBacco and Frank DeBacco.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, on Wednesday July 10, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where his services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. His friend the Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church will officiate.
