Ruth Joanne Wakefield – Georgetown (Greene Twp.)

Ruth Joanne Wakefield, 74, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), died unexpectedly Friday morning, July 6, 2018, in the comfort of her home.

Born January 20, 1944, in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Francis and Naomi Ruth (Duncan) Smith. A homemaker, Ruth was a member of the Hookstown American Legion; an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Melvin T. Wakefield; her daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Joe Cavlovich, Etna, and Michele and Jim Hyre, Raccoon Twp., and a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Chuck Kinney, Clinton. She was the beloved grandmother of Christopher, Jake and Hailey.

As per her request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place.
