Ronald W. Highberger – Monaca (Raccoon Twp.)

Ronald W. Highberger, 66, of Monaca, (Raccoon Township), died unexpectedly Sunday, February 17, 2013, at his Raccoon Twp. residence.

Born January 28, 1947, in Sewickley, he was a son of the late James William and Avis Louise (Cook) Highberger. Ron worked as a mechanic in the automotive industry. He was the owner and operator of Ron’s Shop in Raccoon Twp. and had worked Nick Crivelli Ford, formerly Beglin Ford, in Bridgewater for 14 years. He was a 30-year member of the Pontiac Oakland Club International and was an avid antique and classic car collector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lily Hughes, and a niece, Jennifer Yoko.

He was the beloved husband and love of her life of 46 years to Judy (Hughes) Highberger, whom he married August 28, 1966. Surviving are his children, Tracy Pflug and her significant other, Blaine Hess, Georgetown, and Jeff and Amy Highberger, Raccoon Twp.; a sister and her husband, Karen (Richard) Yoko, Raccoon Twp.; his father-in-law, Murray Hughes, Raccoon Twp.; his nine grandchildren, Shawna Highberger and her friend Mat Vinisky, Trevor Pflug and his friend Kylie Gorney, Sarah Terwilliger, Abby, Andy and Jeffery Highberger, Tiffanie (Josh) Lightner, Adam Hess, and Christine Yost; two great-granddaughters, Jennavieve and Ryeligh Lightner, and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends and family are welcome to call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director, where services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Kennedy, of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Shippingport, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or any Shriners Children’s Hospital.
