Roger Lee Hicks – HOOKSTOWN
Roger Lee Hicks, 73, of Hookstown, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2016.
Roger was born June 7, 1943, in Jane Lew, W. Va., to the late Walter Lambert and Cora Viola (Rodgers) Hicks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Billi Kae Taylor and step-granddaughter, Jocelyn Laurance Taylor.
Roger is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jane Lou Hicks; daughter, Duranne Wooley, St. Cloud, Fla.; son, Roger Linn Hicks, Hookstown; stepson, Michael (Dana) Flamont, Dearborn Heights, Mich.; stepdaughter, Michelle (Curtis) Conti, Georgetown; ten grandchildren, William (Rachel) Conti , Craig (Tara) Conti, Victoria Conti (Lucas Collett), Kirsten Wooley, Kerissa (Sunjay) Armstead, Taylor Flamont, Cameron Flamont, Jonica Smith, Jacob Taylor and Janelle Taylor; eight great-grandsons; a brother, Don (Nancy) Hicks, Hookstown; three sisters, Glenna (Fred) Bleigh, Hookstown; Phyllis (Chuck) Ord, Westover, W.Va., and Sandra (Curtis) Smith, Jane Lew, W. Va. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was a retired lineman with Duquesne Light Co. Growing up he worked the family farm where he learned the importance of hard work and family. His favorite pastimes in younger years were the great outdoors, hunting and bowling. In recent years, he shared his passion with his grandchildren and his great-grandsons who were his pride and joy.
Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA 15050, Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Hookstown Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Plunkett officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the church.
Roger will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Cemetery, Georgetown.
