Robert G. Lockhart – NEW CUMBERLAND, WV (FORMERLY OF HOOKSTOWN)

Robert G. Lockhart, 89, of New Cumberland, WV, formerly of Hookstown, died Tuesday evening, November 12, 2013, in the East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born July 12, 1924, in Hookstown, he was the last surviving son born to the late William Robert and Florence (Snowden) Lockhart. A veteran of World War II, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and was formerly a steelworker in the steel industry and a farmer. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, East Liverpool, Ohio, and was an honorary member of the Hookstown American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, camping and working in his garden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Jane (Carnegie) Lockhart, in 2002, and three brothers, Curtis, Earl and Charlie Lockhart, and a grandson, Jeremy Lockhart.

Surviving are his wife of eight years, Wilma (Mills) Lockhart, the couple was married March 12, 2005; his children: Debra Conkle of Virginia, Larry Lockhart of Baden, and George and his wife Katie Lockhart of Hookstown; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Friends are welcome to call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Gaylord Cox, of the Grace Baptist Church, officiating.

He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown. Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery at noon to provide full military honors.
