Robert G. ‘Gary’ Hopwood – GEORGETOWN

Robert G. "Gary" Hopwood, 71, of Georgetown (Greene Township), died April 6, 2012, in UPMC Shadyside following a brief battle with leukemia.
Born February 14, 1941, in Uniontown, a son of the late Garnet (Hopwood) DiDonato, he was the beloved husband of Scherie Halstead Hopwood; the couple were married June 11, 1966.

Beloved father of Robert W. and his wife Anita Hopwood of West Virginia, Scott and his wife Donna Hopwood of Hopewell Township, and David and his wife Jennifer Hopwood of Moon Township, he is also survived by five beloved grandchildren, Joe, Devynn, Stephanie, Hannah and Dylan Hopwood, and very special friends, Marilyn Allison of Georgetown, Terry Moore of Hookstown, and Larry Roberts of Chester. Gary was a retired employee of Nova Chemical for 34 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Beaver Valley Police Revolver League. A former Wildlife Conservation officer, he was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Family and friends are welcome to call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the McCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Tom Lombard officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
